  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Things go in cycles. Gloatfest and Whinefest........

Define "Whinefest." If you mean whining about how the results turned out, which I'm sure you do, then there are two ways of looking at election results. One way is to analyze the results, seeing what it was that your side did wrong. The other way is to blame the voter for not seeing the light - seeing why it is you think you are best for them. I see the left doing more of the former and the right doing the latter. Only one is "whining." ;)
I think what cow meant was that in 2012 (last cycle) it was whinefest and now (2014) it is gloatfest.

Yes I see that. Down in the dregs then and today they're gonna have sore shoulders from all the congratulatory back slapping that's going on. But I still stand by my evaluation of how each side loses an election.

I created this thread to ask for Democrats opinions on this matter only, if you are a Republican, I would appreciate it if you not respond to this thread, if you like, I am happy to create another one just for Republicans

I have read online that Obama gave interviews during elections, pulling out several Democrat candidate have voted for his health care plan, and later on made a gaffe with Michelle Nunn race by saying something like vote for Michelle Nunn will allow "us" to continue to do our good work?

I am not quite sure whether those incidences were made up or distorted by conservative media.

But if Obama really did say those things, made me wonder whether he did that on purpose to teach those senate candidates a lesson, as many of them were running away from his policy?

Maybe he had enough, I have watched this Rachel Maddow clip where Rachel was criticizing how people associate with Hillary has already started to prepare for her 2016 campaign by attacking Obama in an effort to distant Hillary from her old boss ( I never liked that woman).

All's fair in love, war and politics.

Politicians must appear to be telling the truth even when they're not, credibility is the politicians best weapon.

If we like what we see in a politician the things they say that are wrong can sometimes go unnoticed.

We will let people we like get away with a lot more than people we don't like, even when it comes to telling lies.
If we don't like them they are lying through their teeth, if we like them they really didn't mean it the way it sounds.

I think the problem is that Obama's ineffectual administration as of late is constructed by the Republicans stonewalling him at every single juncture. Boehner's vindictive, and as much as he tries to distance himself from the Tea Party, they still pull his strings.

The result is that even when we controlled the Senate, a bill wouldn't even make it onto the House floor. So just about anything Obama wanted to get done, if it didn't have unanimous GOP support then it would just drown in Congress.

Yet somehow, this "failure" is attributed to Obama himself. Some kind of ridiculous sleight of hand is diverting the populations attention from Congressional politics to the White House and shifting the blame for this congestion on to him.

Unfortunately I think Obama's administration will end like Clinton's: more with a whimper than a bang. Clinton had a pretty great presidency (forgetting his moral indiscretion) but after Gingrich led his coup d'état in Congress and retook both houses, Clinton was relegated to a facilitators role rather than a leaders.

I like a lot of the Green's ideas and politics. If we could break the shackles of this two-party system I'd probably align myself with them.

I think a lot of democrats would. Voting Green now is more than just a protest vote though, it helps them maintain or achieve ballot access among other things.

Don't Soul-Search. Stiffen Your Backbone. | Bill de Blasio
Bill de Blasio said:
As a Democrat, I'm disappointed in last Tuesday's results. But as a progressive, I know my party need not search for its soul -- but rather, its backbone.

...

This year, too many Democratic candidates lost sight of those core principles -- opting instead to clip their progressive wings in deference to a conventional wisdom that says bold ideas aren't politically practical.

To working people, it showed Democratic weakness -- a weak commitment to the change desperately sought by struggling families, and a weak alternative to a Republican philosophy that has held America back.

Bold, progressive ideas win elections.

We can thank the Green Party for the defeat of Al Gore in 2000. I hope W. sent a nice Christmas gift to Ralph Nader.
