  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Maybe we'd even blend in with the YECs and the OECs if we called ourselves

Theistic
Evolutionary
Creationists.

Hahaha, I actually quite like that! I am henceforth a TEC.

I said yes. I figure, the only people who really care whether I am a "TE" or not are young earth creationists on CF, and I fit their definition.

You know, it's funny that YECs are happy to refer to us as TEs, when all their arguments in fact suggest that they think of us as ATEs. (I recall a remark somewhere that "TE" is an oxymoron)

I realized that there is all kinds of science I have not studied for myself but accept and rely on every day.

I have no reason to stand in dispute of entire feilds of scientists and blow them off due to scriptures that make more sense when not interprated literally.

Whatever that makes my origins stance, that's what I am. :)

I'm a TE, but I also think it's a lousy term. To me, "theistic evolution" conjurs a mental image of natural selection amongst a population of gods, with subsequent reproduction and increased expression of gentic traits that contribute to the survival of gods in a particular environment.

Yeah, I know. It sounds nutty. I use the term TE because that is what is generally assigned to one who holds my particular set of beliefs.

I'm also part "Indian" because some of my ancestors were Wyandott, Mohawk, and Seneca. The terminology predates me and I'm not going to waste time arguing it that can be better wasted arguing other topics.
