CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Duncan Hunter shows no signs of quitting House, despite felony guilty plea
So far, neither Republican nor Democratic leaders have pressured Hunter to leave office, although there is precedent for expelling members who don’t step down following a criminal conviction.
Republican leaders asked both Collins and Hunter to give up their committee assignments following their indictments. But Hunter — who long claimed he was the victim of a political “witch hunt” — initially refused to relinquish his committee posts. He finally stepped down after GOP leadership started taking steps to forcibly remove him from his panels.

The House Ethics Committee on Thursday informed Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) that he can no longer vote in the House of Representatives after pleading guilty to misusing campaign funds.
The ethics panel sent Hunter a letter telling him that his guilty plea triggered a House rule saying that any member convicted of a crime that could receive a prison sentence of two or more years “should refrain from voting on any question at a meeting of the House … unless or until judicial or executive proceedings result in reinstatement of the presumption of innocence … or until the Member is reelected to the House after the date of such conviction.”
“We emphasize in the strongest possible terms that if you violate the clear principles of this provision – that is, for example, by voting in the House – you risk subjecting yourself to action by this Committee, and by the House, in addition to any other disciplinary action that may be initiated in connection with your criminal conviction,” the panel wrote.

Embattled Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter spent upwards of $45,000 from his campaign on personal expenditures — including $625 on flights for a pet rabbit, according to a House Ethics Committee report released Monday.
An unnamed staffer told investigators “that at some point after she no longer worked in the congressional office, Rep. Hunter kept a rabbit named Cadbury in his congressional office” that “had a cage in the congressional office,” according to the report.
“Rep. Hunter and his wife repeatedly used campaign committee funds for flight costs with no clear campaign nexus, including the cost of flying a pet rabbit,” the report states, adding that “in 2014 and 2015, Rep. Hunter’s campaign committee spent $625.00 on five separate $125.00 ‘pet in cabin’ United Airlines charges to fly a pet rabbit.”
