  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a Wii!

All I have is Wii Sports at the moment, but headed to Best Buy tonight. Wii Sports is a lot of fun though! Baseball and bowling are my favs, though I think I'll like tennis and golf once I get the hang of them. Boxing is a bit harder, but I'll keep tryin till I get it right.

I stopped in at Best Buy on my way home (a different one) to try to get some accessories and a game. Oddly enough, they had a stack of about 6-7 PS3s sitting out in the open and nobody was even looking at them. Yet they had nothing for the Wii - no controllers, no Zelda, no accessories. Nintendo's certainly got the upper hand so far!

I notice how you only mentioned Zelda. One game selling a system is rather silly in my mind.

Hence why, as stated in other posts, I will not consider purchasing a next-gen system until they have a good library of games...that I want to play.

Well, Zelda may be the best reason to own one NOW, but there will be other games. I've played WarioWare: Smooth Moves, and it's a fantastic game. You KNOW that Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy, and Super Smash Bros. Brawls will be good, because Nintendo always delivers. I'd say just those games I just mentioned, in addition to the Virtual Console and Gamecube cames, make it more than worth $250, especially if you never owned a gamecube (like I didn't).

If you DO have a GC, maybe you should hold off, but there are enough great games for that system (Metroid Prime especially) to keep you occupied while the Wii builds its library if you haven't played them before. I've never bought a console at launch before, either, but I think that making an exception for the Wii was a good decision.

Yeah, I waited for about 12 hours, too... 5th Wii owner in Bay City, Texas!

Well, Zelda was the main reason I wanted it, but there are plenty other titles out that I'm interested in and many more coming that I look forward to. I also picked up Super Monkey Ball (I've always loved the simple fun of the monkey ball games) and that's awesome. I may get Madden 07, though I've never been a big football fan, because it may be fun on the controller. Then there's Mario Galaxy coming out, Smash Bros, and of course, Metroid Prime 3. Mortal Kombat could be interesting and will support the classic and gamecube controllers for people who don't want to swing their arms around. Driver could be awesome if they go back to the series' roots - the original Driver was an awesome game. The new Prince of Persia series has been great and I'm curious how it will be played with the new controller. If the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles turns out better than the Cube version, I'll get that to play with my girlfriend. I've always loved SSX, and I'm sure SSX Blur will be awesome. Warioware is supposed to be an excellent party game. And then, of course, you have all the classic games available for download! Including Turbografx games like Alien Crush and Military Madness, both CLASSIC games that never got the recognition they deserved.

So, as you see, while Zelda is my main interest now, the Wii has a LOT of potential for the future. I'm quite happy!

I rock the kibash at bowling. The training where you knock down all the pins with one throw, and the number of pins gets larger every time is a CRAZY training. My friends and I compete to see who can get the highest score there.
