The Day After Tomorrow

This looks like yet another, "Oh my God, we gotta save America" story. Well, this philosophy is not unfounded considering what's going on in Iraq today.

Maybe you clicked on the wrong section of these forums as if you take a ganders in the upwards direction, you'll see it notes this is a movie forum.

Take politics to the politics section, guy.

I just saw it. As a whole, it sucked. horrible acting. cheesy as hell. But the science, the concept, was pretty stinkin cool. I would love to hear what someone in meteorology has to say about it. Plus, Jake, the teenage son in the movie, is easy on the eyes. ;)

Saw it tonight and while I was feeling the special effects, the rest was junk. But definitely it's worth the 10 bucks for the visual spectacle.

For the people who know this stuff, is that instant freeze thing in the movie fiction or can that actually happen?

Yep, just like Independance Day, Deep Impact, Armageddon, ect... if the world ever needs saved, who do you call? USA to the rescue. </sarcasm>

Always a good story line! That's why I intend to see Day After. I'll enjoy the cheese just like I did Armageddon! :D

Just my 2 cents-

This movie was so bad that I think it was a deep conspiracy from the anti-green folks to make environmentalists look bad - just kidding.

But the science was bad, the acting was bad, the plot was bad...

well you get the picture.

The eye candy was awesome, however.

ROFL! That's cute. ^_^

We took our 13-year-old son to see it over the weekend. Yes, very cheesy & a bit "dragging" towards the end, but loved the tornadoes in L.A. - kewl. (which are seen in the commercial, so not really a spoiler, folks).

The following COULD be a "little spoiler" so if you haven't seen it - don't read any further if you don't want to know....

One thing I thought was very interesting to the story line was that everyone in the Northern Hemisphere had to evacuate to the Southern, forcing the "rich, powerful" countries to flee to third-world countries to take them in. (I loved how the U.S. had to forgive Latin American debt in order to continue to enter Mexico, ha-ha-ha! That was funny writing!).

How ironic, considering that the third-world is so neglected by most of the world in getting assistance to build housing, schools, receiving food to grow themselves, medicines, etc. That was thought-provoking and TRUE JUSTICE if something like this were ever to happen in real life to the bigger countries (Although it would probably stem from nukes some day, not a global storm....although the Book of Revelations can be an eye-opener as far as "predicted disasters"!). A thumbs up on special effects - thumbs down on an engaging story line....

It was good fun. To say the acting was terrible is IMHO a bit harsh. Sure, there has been better, but I thought it was fine.

And what was interesting was that, unlike Independenec Day, Armagedon, etc, it was not 'America saves the World', it was, 'the World goes to pot, with America being one of the chief culprits in causing it, and has to rely on Southern hemisphere countires for salvation. The bit with Americans desperately trying to migrate to Mexico was great irony. A little obvious maybe, but still good.

lol I thought that was funny too. I didn't think it was that bad. I enjoyed it. But me and my brother cracked up in the beginning when that one guy gets hail dropped on his head. I know it wasn't supposed to be funny, but it made me laugh. And LOL, there was this lady in front of us that was jumping at every little thing, and she really freaked out when the wolves were running after that one guy; jumping and waving her arms. It was hilarious.

For a global catastrophy movie it was good. I didn't want to see character development, I wanted to see the world in trouble and I saw it. The acting seemed fine. The storms working as they did was oddly against the US but that made it interesting, especially tornados in LA. There was a hint of romance in it which didn't disappoint me because this was not mean to be a love story or a family drama movie. It was what the previews advertise, a the world of man in trouble with nature.
