I begin to wonder if you know what ignorance is. Ignorance is not knowing something, including because you didn't try to learn it.

Those "ignorant people" you dealt with, were they the ones that claimed they didn't see any crime or didn't know what they were doing last Tuesday evening? (Or did you harass citizens about Jesus? I hope not.)

Ignorance is lack of knowledge. I did not proselytize on my job or discriminate against anyone because of their beliefs. It's a free country and it's not up to me to tell anyone what to believe. I treated everyone with respect regardless of what I may have thought of them and I still do. I still deal with ignorant people every day.

Even if someone believes the earth was created in 6 24 hour days and man was created from dust that does not make them dangerous or ignorant just because they believe something different than you. No one was there to witness the creation so we are all making guesses about what happened.

Nobody remotely suggested " just because " so why waste time talking about it

Reasoned skepticism is essential to science.
Dismissing something one knows nothing about

That's gravity itself which makes you fall, not the "law of gravity." A scientific law is nothing but a description (usually mathematical) of a recurring phenomenon. It is subject to the same limits of inductive logic as the rest of science.

So you really *don't* know what ignorant means.

Do you really think most drivers think they can drive with out a plate? Or that crack is not going to cause them trouble? And driving around attracting attention of the fuzz while you have outstanding warrants isn't ignorant, it's stupid.

Stupid and ignorant aren't the same things. Until the last hour I was ignorant of your (former) profession, now you have informed me (and others). You are likely ignorant of my profession, but that doesn't make you stupid. (For the record, I am a scientist.)

Some "guesses" are better than others. Some even have evidence to support them. Others have no evidence to support them and in some cases (biblical creationism, for example) there is considerable evidence which contradicts them.

It's still a guess and so is much of the "evidence"

Some weren't just stupid they were ignorant. They didn't know how to do anything else. Ignorance is a lack of knowledge about something. These people lack knowledge, I am no longer ignorant about what you do and I suspected it from your comments

Theres blind faith, theres reasonable doubt,
there is unreasonable doubt.
Ignorance will always give unreasonable doubt,
and, a lot of blind faith.

You seem to miss some of the distinctions among reasonable doubt,
blind faith, unreasonable doubt, magical thinking and
logical fact based thinking

Walking off a building proves there is no levity so it's not hard to figure out. Thank God I wasn't taught by the ancient Greeks
