Same as evolution is exactly the same regardless of how life started

There are things I can't explain and have no answer for but I wouldn't say I'm skeptical about God. I'm skeptical about the way some people interpret the Bible

We don't know that it has. Given that a biosphere already exists, any proto-life which formed would almost instantly become food for an already existing creature and thus remain undetected.

how would you know it was unique in all the
soup of living and non living organic material?

Not known. It is entirely possible that there were many "starts" which failed to survive or combined with others to form our common ancestry.

Trial and error. But this process was taking place on it's own with nothing controlling it but the laws of nature?

Not known, but it is a reasonable assumption given that God seems to run the universe in that fashion.
