So every summer it seems like we have random things sleeping on our carport. Sometimes its Carolina Wrens, sometimes it's Sparrows. Other times it's toads who make weird noises and bats.

This year we have a Wasp making a nest on our carport, and a bat sleeping on our carport every night. We've randomly had a family of Carolina Wren's making a bed in one of our flower pots. They didnt nest there, they just made it their bed for a few nights. lol

What has been some interesting critters that you've seen around your house? Whether it's nesting on your carport, or sleeping there. Or anywhere around your house! Do tell stories, and share photos.

Nice photo.

I've only got a rather fat squirrel that lives in our garden.

Re: Jennie's pic of the bat.

I hate hate hate bats. A few summers back, I was REALLY sick, and I had taken some benadryl, which knocked me out for several hours. I had fallen asleep on my bedroom floor. I was starting to come to, and I felt something on my leg. I was very out of it, so I was thinking it was something else on me, so I shook my leg and it flew and stared making the high pitched noises. I instantly jumped to my feet(hitting my head on my loft in the process) and I went running out of my room. THE BAT FOLLOWED ME. So I ran out of my apartment, running into a friend who lived next door. Here I was screaming incoherently about a bat, rubbing my hurt head, moving about all dizzily. I am sure he assumed I was intoxicated. Then I opened my apartment door and the bat flew by the door!

So we slammed the door. He went to get his roommate. They came back in like a coat and apron, with gloves on. One had a broom, the other had a bucket.. So they went in there swatting at the bat, which in my semi-stoned stated caused me to laugh quite a bit. They eventually knocked the bat down, and got him in the bucket, and took him outside. They thought he was dead, but a few minutes later he flew away.

I can only imagine the story the bat told his friends:

"Yeah, there was the human who looked unconscious on the ground, so I tried waking him up to see if he was okay. THEN he jumped up and hit his head, running out of the room. I tried to get him to come back. 'Hey human, is your head okay? Come back, let me look at it'. Instead of that, he left the room. THEN two other humans came in the room. They were crazy!!!! They came at me with a broom. I mean, WT Fudge, I was trying to help their friend out, and they come at me with a broom. Stupid humans"

Well, good thing you did that. It could have been a vampire! And vampires cannot come inside unless you invite them in. So, telling it "NO!" means he cannot get you! ^_^
