Where do you find in Scripture that Sunday is the Sabbath day mentioned in the Moral Law?Irishcat922 said:Are Christians obligated to keep Sunday as the Sabbath. Keep in mind it is a part of the moral law. Please give scriptural reasons for your opinion.
The Sabbath day is part of the moral law. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy. The Moral law doesn't specify what day it is.ksen said:Where do you find in Scripture that Sunday is the Sabbath day mentioned in the Moral Law?
It doesn't?Irishcat922 said:The Sabbath day is part of the moral law. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy. The Moral law doesn't specify what day it is.
I tend to follow this as well. There are reasons I have been told of why we worship on Sundays and not Saturdays, etc but it is our heart that God is interested in.Imblessed said:I didn't vote, but I will give my opinion...my pastor made an interesting observation a while back on this topic. He said that God rested on the seventh day, also that it was part of the Torah that the Jews had to rest once a week; and then he went on to make an observation I found interesting. He said that he had read somewhere that scientists had been doing studies on people's sleeping habits and rest patterns and had come to the conclusion that after 6 days, people need to take a break from things(work etc) and take a day of "rest" so that the body could rejuvenate. That for some 'reason', the body was on some sort of 6 days on 1 day off cycle, and that if people did not take a day to rest and not work, that it would actually cause physical problems. I thought that was most interesting. My pastor went on to say that it really didn't matter what 'day' we did the rest on, just as long as we took one day a week and dedicated it to the Lord by resting and reflecting, etc. Sunday seems to be the easy day to do this, because of tradition.
I thought it made a lot of sense. I can't see how it HAS to be Sunday, or even Saturday because it seems to me that that's putting works back into play, and making what WE do more important than what God's doing in us. I don't know, I could be completely off on this one....anyhoo--my .02cents worth.....
