Genesis 21:
God, in His own (not Abraham's timing and not in Sarah's timing), but in His
OWN perfect and inexplicable timing, does
EXACTLY as He promised He would do:
"And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac." ~Genesis 21:1-3
"Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." ~Genesis 18:14
God ALWAYS means what He says. His promises are
NEVER EVER broken.
He
NEVER EVER lies.
Ever.
Soooooooooo......here we go again......
It's the time when Isaac is weaned, and there is a celebration. And lo and behold, what doth break forth at this joyous time of celebration?
Mocking.
And it's from Ishmael.
He was mocking Isaac.
Can anyone say:
Soooooooo Sarah sees (and hears) it, as did everyone there, most likely, including Hagar.
Uh-oh.
Sarah had
HAD it.
She tells Abraham to get that woman and her son out of her sight.
And God agreed with Sarah and told Abraham to do as Sarah said.
Hagar and Ishmael, her son, are ousted and banished.
"And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave itunto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba." ~Genesis 21:
Nevertheless, God had plans for Ishmael. And it was for ABRAHAM'S SAKE that Ishmael did not perish (or Hagar, Ishmael's mother).
"And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. And also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation, because he is thy seed." ~Genesis 21:12-13
God preserves Ishmael (and his mother):
"And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and took bread, and a bottle of water, and gave it unto Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, and the child, and sent her away: and she departed, and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba. And the water was spent in the bottle, and she cast the child under one of the shrubs. And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept. And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is." ~Genesis 21 :14-17
