There are many beautiful parts to the Bible but no other book can compare to the Psalms. The Psalms were mostly written by King David and his love for God insprired him to write these wonderful words.

This is a pretty little chorus from Psalm 48.

The words are taken straight from the King James Version almost unchanged.

PSALM 6

David was a weeping prophet as well as Jeremiah, and this psalm is one of his lamentations: either it was penned in a time, or at least calculated for a time, of great trouble, both outward and inward. Is any afflicted? Is any sick? Let him sing this psalm.

The method of this psalm is very observable, and what we shall often meet with. He begins with doleful complaints, but ends with joyful praises; like Hannah, who went to prayer with a sorrowful spirit, but, when she had prayed, went her way, and her countenance was no more sad.

King David had great power in his use of words and his Psalms are a blessing to all those who read them.

Selah

The word SELAH is used seventy-one times in the Psalms.

SELAH means pause. It just means that the reader should pause at that point when reading the Psalms.

The word SELAH is not a word that exists in the English language.

Therefore when I am quoting from the Psalms I will leave out the word SELAH.
