2 Chronicles Chapter 2

Solomon makes preparation to build the temple.

Solomon asks Huram King of Tyre to send cedar wood from Lebanon. Verse 8.

Solomon also asks for a man skilled in working gold silver brass and iron. Verse 7.

2 Chronicles Chapter 3

Solomon began the work of building the temple in Jerusalem during the fourth year of his reign. Verse 1.

The walls of the temple were graved with cherubims overlaid with gold. Verse 7.

A cherubim is an angel.

In the temple there were two large cherubims and they were overlaid with gold. Verse 10.

The wings of the two cherubims touched the temple walls on either side, and the wings of the two cherubims touched in the centre. Verses 11&12

The vail was made of blue, purple, crimson and fine linen with cherubims on it. Verse 14.

2 Chronicles Chapter 4

Solomon finishes the building of the temple in Jerusalem.

It was a fabulous building. Everything was the best that money could buy.

All the items for general use were made of gold.

2 Chronicles Chapter 5

The ark was brought from Zion to the Temple in Jerusalem (Verse 2)

After the ark was brought into the temple a cloud filled the temple (Verse 13)

The cloud was the glory of the Lord (Verse 14)

Where is Zion ?
Zion was originally a castle on Mount Zion. David captured the castle and built a city around it. The city was called the City of David.

Because Jerusalem was built near to Mount Zion, Jerusalem gradually became as Zion. And furthermore with the passing of time the state of Israel also became known as Zion.

that must've been something to hear....they all sang as "one" accompanied by the trumpets and cymbals and other instruments, and God was visibly in the "midst" of them, through the cloud that filled the place.....

...i didn't know that the Levites were "singers"......God must've given them the gift of singing in order to serve this way....

Solomon's Prayer to God in the new Temple

2 Chronicles Chapter 6

Chapter is a long chapter. It is 42 verses in total. Solomon praises God for what he has done for Israel.

Verse 41 is a nice verse

Now therefore arise, O Lord God, into they resting place, thou, and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O Lord God, be clothed with salvation, and let the saints rejoice in goodness.
(2 Chronicles 6v41)

The Dedication of the Temple

Solomon finishes prayer and the fire came down from Heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices. The glory of the Lord filled the temple.
The priests couldnt enter the temple because of the Lords glory filling it.
The Israelites saw this and knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground and gave thanks to the Lord

And the Lord appeared unto Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.
(Verse 12)

God warns Solomon how Israel will be punished if they turn away from God and worship idols.
(Verse 19)

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." ~2 Chronicles 7:14

THE POWER OF GOD

Here is a verse from that mighty warrior Joab from 1 Chronicles 21v2.

The Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be.

Joab believed that he need not be concerned about the size of the enemy army, because if God was on the side of Israel he would multiply the power of Israel's forces by 100.

All Christians should take encouragement from this wonderful comment by the mighty warrior Joab.

In the next twenty years after builing the temple Solomon built new cities for Israel (Verse 4)

Solomon married the daughter of the Pharoah of Egypt (Verse 11)

Solomon made sacrifices on the sabbaths, new moons and feast days (Verse 13)

The Levites were to be priests in the temple (Verse 14)

The wealth and influence of Solomon grew and his wisdon even reached the ears of the Queen of Sheba.

Joab's faith in God was memorable and at such a pivotal, critical time. He was a great warrior for his king David, and a great man of God.

He should've died with all due honor for the great warrior and man of God he was. It's grievous that David had him killed that way he did.

2 Chronicles 9

Queen Sheba arrives to test Solomon with her caravan filled with treasures. She is amazed with what he has done.
Solomons palace is all gold. Everything from the goblets to the shields is gold. He is visited by kings who want to hear the wisdom that God had put into his heart
