Best post so far.
Definitely opinions vary on that - again, people here should be able to KNOW what goes on & is said - namely if ends up involving them (which in my case, it HAS directly) - and I valued that information greatly and appreciate those who relayed it to me and everyone else it involved.

Sheesh. And to think, we went several hours without any fuss. It'd be nice if some people didn't bump up long past contentious posts. It'd be nice if we just ignored those long past forgotten contentious posts and avoided the temptation to respond to those who won't let us forget, and it'd also be nice if people who aren't really members of this club wouldn't come in after the fact and try to lecture us.

/me wondering if that's just too much to ask for.

I'm not sure I even understand your point - from what I think it means my reply is that everybody here at this site is restricted in what they can say and about whom.

We're restricted, those at iidb are not when it comes to non members. I don't have to be liked by everyone here namely by those who commend themselves on their high levels of so-called "tolerance".

It's also not a subject I prefer to stay on - it was brought back up by another visitor, not myself.

Problem solving & discussion is a good thing. Usually people go to the source of their problem in private to do that. Discussing it openly on a messageboard on either side only feeds the monster.

Cover it any way you like but gossip is still gossip.

If people would just let eachother be without the jabs & so called righteous indignation a lot of this would subside.

Both sides are guilty of gossip. And it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Seriously, people should concentrate on their own walk & stop talking about others.

I do not know how people could look at all this snark on either side of the fence & call it otherwise.

Instead of talking, we should simply be putting our beliefs into action.

In this case, talk really is cheap.

In Christ,
A fellow conservative christian that believes in extending the grace that I have been undeservedly given.

Michie,

The thing is ... we had moved on, for several hours, before you bumped the issue ... essentially without anything significant in your own contribution (I don't consider a thumbs-up a significant contribution). What did that solve, what did it prove, what did it achieve? Other than starting the shenanigans over again?

can I remind everyone (since Lisa isn't here I'll speak up), this isn't an open thread for everyone - guests can 'fellowship' - but this isn't fellowship while rehashing issues that we've tried to move away from now.

So I'd ask people to please respect this "club" and the members who want to direct conversations to or away from things as they choose.
Feel free to discuss this stuff in other sections on threads you start up yourselves.

I'd like to move on from this (again).

No it hadn't.

You all changed the subject because of the lurkers. You telling me that this is an issue where everyone has moved on for good to more productive endeavors? Never to be brought up again?

Belinda's post should had been highlighted.
Attention needs to be called to this issue.

Christians are called to a higher standard than this. You can't go around touting Christ's love & mercy while gossiping about those that [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] you off. Never letting go of an issue. Being silent & praying for those that you disagree with. It's not a good witness & at the same time, there are gripes about drawing others to Christ?

C'mon, how contridictory is that?

Seriously, it needs to stop. It's an issue within our Churches as well. These little mini wars. Believers throughout history have endured worse & were still able to reflect Christ. Christians need to be called on this.

This whole issue is just overblown & has turned into a monster.

People hurt out there. Even those you disagree with. It is not our job to add to that hurt with our tongues. We are to be an example to the world. A witness.

Why don't we start doing that instead of looking for all those specks out there in others eyes while we have this big fat log in our own?

It's not what goes into a person's mouth that makes them unclean, but what comes out of it.

How about us Christians simply getting our *you know what together* before we try to straighten everyone else out?

It's just so infuriating... lets move on.

Wrong.

You telling me that this is an issue where everyone has moved on for good to more productive endeavors? Never to be brought up again?
It certainly seemed that way, but we'll never know for sure now will we?

Attention needs to be called to this issue.
Allow me to quote you: Usually people go to the source of their problem in private to do that. Discussing it openly on a messageboard on either side only feeds the monster.

Either you simply were reading the thread in progression, saw Belinda's post and added an "Amen!" (Honestly, I usually have a pretty low tolerance for those types of posts) not knowing where the thread had moved on from there ... or you knew the thread had moved on and bumped it up, having to have known full well the drama would resume. The first possibility, which you have shown no indication of being what had happened ... is understandable (though the "Amen!" type of reply to an admonishment has to be figured to be received poorly), the other is just poor postmanship IMO. In either case, you had to have known you'd be adding to the drama. Which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what you're demanding of people here.

My name is on it, but you are one of the co-founders, so if they do not abide by the guest rules (of which we have none), but if they cannot play nice, ask them to leave. If they won't, go get a mod that you trust from Ministry.
