kk, im not one that likes her music, actually i really dislike it, it annoys me, BUT i wouldnt go as far as to say that she is horrid in her singing and dancing, she honestly is very talented and hard working, just wish it had come out a different way

Being a rock n roller, I used to try to despise all pop music. However, as I gave it a chance, I realized that a lot of pop music was popular because it was well-written. Granted, I'm not going to buy a Britney Spears album or download her music, but when I hear one of her songs on the radio, I realize that it was most likely written by a professional songwriter who makes a living from writing what the public wants to hear. I also recognize that Britney has worked very hard to get as far as she has.

Oh, and the people who listen to underground music who are rabidly against anything commercially successful need to realize that the majority of underground music is underground because it isn't any good.

A lot of bands stay underground because they want no part of the commercially owned trash that labels put them through. being underground, they have full control over everything they do. A lot of underground bands are amazing *coughCellDwellercough* and have had some decent success, but there are a fair amount of undergrounders who stink like dog, just like there are some mainstream artists that stink like dog... Britney Spears for instance...

And in her recent news... "Shes found God".... I wonder how many people who called her a luser before will now idolize her cause "she found God". Lame, totally lame.

Personally, I think Britney Spears is one of the worst of the worst. The first thing that comes to mind when I hear her name is: sleaze! The second thing is how ironic her initials are. I'd bet good money that she's really not very good at singing and has to have her voice modified in the studio, the lyrics she sings are disgusting and terribly written (what idiot gets paid to write that drivel?), and the only reason she's famous is because shallow guys trip over their tongues at the mere mention of her and teen girls idolise her body as something they want.

Talk about a talentless wonder.

I can't understand it either. Who cares if she has talent? Who cares if the songs are catchy or not written by Britney? Does that affect any of you? This thread is ridiculous, it's set up with the purpose of belittling an artist who is obviously liked by a lot of people. This is music snobbery, folks. I don't personally like Britney, but I'm fine with people that do. Her music is not inherently bad, guys, it's just not your style. Why not leave it at that?

So, I don't consider her an artist or a muician; but I do consider her an entertainer, and quite a good one at that

Exactly. What people don't realize is that they are judging Britney (or other pop artists) against standards that she never meant to live up to. Saying that Britney Spears' music is bad because the lyrics are not deep enough and her music not original enough is like saying that an instrumental composer's music is bad because it has no lyrical message. They fail to realize that Britney's music has nothing to do with deep lyrics or original music. She has other purposes, such as entertaining crowds and making danceworthy music. If you want to listen to music with deeper lyrics and more complex musical structures, then don't listen to Britney. But don't make the mistake that her purposes are any less worthy than another.
