JPPT, hope you are feeling refreshed from your vacation.

JforJesus, you are looking especially lovely!

Kiss, wonderful words! You too, Earth Momma!

We just got done with almost a full week of kids sleeping over.....VBS last week.....I am ready for a break. Laundry tomorrow...probably all day. Then school shopping next week, then the following week, going to see my army daughter graduate from basic!

Busy life, but God is good and gives rest and peace in the midst.

His blessings to you all!

Everyone:

I thought I would post a story I wrote about 15 years ago when I first began to enter more into a bridal love and devotion for Jesus. I always had such a devotion ever since I was 14 but it became more so which caused me to start illustrating and writing about Christ as the Bridegroom of the Church. I also did paintings to go along with the story. Some I have posted in different Christians forums but always without the context of the story. Now I would like to share them here. I pray that the story and pictures will inspire you.

Stories From the Knight In Thorn-Briar Forest
(A tale of Christ and the soul that loved Him)

The Coming of Spring

She was no longer fair and beautiful, not at all like the maidens in most love stories. Her long dress shown traces of a happier time, colors of red roses and embroidered green leaves now had all but disappeared on a faded background of golden silk worn with the passage of seasons. Always she saw herself in the covering of the shadows. Like a withered leaf cast from an autumn tree her glory had been once upon a time. She was not surprised that day after day, year after year, no one would venture so deep into the wood, her hiding place.

Why the princely Knight had come seeking a poor maiden, she did not know. Even in the dim light of the forest she thought He was most beautiful and handsome. Before she ever saw His face, the winds of the forest had whispered many wonderful things about the Knight of Love. This is one of the songs the winds sang:

“Ah sweet affliction! Jesu’ sits near thy heart’s gate.
Amid the flowering vines thy Knight of love awaits
His beauty smites thy soul. See His stately form,
With the virtue of Humility so gracefully adorned.
His body tells the story of His chivalrous plight.
His hands, feet and side bear the red mark,
He is the Prince of Knights.

But look! His glory is shadowed! Weeps the gentle Jesu’
His tears form many a fragrant rose of crystal blue..
His love wove a crown to place upon the Soul,
And only then can His broken heart be made whole.
Come at once! His beard fames his comely face around.
His eyes a lovely hue of golden brown
His locks, ravens wings, so soft and dark are they,
His coming is as the dawn, giving light to thy day..
Fairest of ten thousand, the Song of Songs expressed,
Come and find thy place upon His wounded breast!”

To be continued...

(This picture for this part of the story was lost in the flood I had back in 2005. However my friend may have a copy. When I obtain a print of it I'll post it here.)

Dear sister Amy,

This is altogether lovely! I really appreciate the point made in the story at the beginning. Whether or not we are anything special in the natural realm, He loves us and He comes seeking us. All others may see us for what we appear to be in the natural realm, but not Him! He sees throught the eyes of faith and love! He sees us complete and perfect and so beautiful in Him! No one else may come to see us in our little neck of the woods, but He does! He seeks us out and come right to where we are. His love to us is beyonds words to describe!

How lovely and attractive He is in the poem! This surely is a fitting description of our Beloved Jesus, He whose beauty truly "smites thy soul"! A magnificent Prince, the "Prince of Knights" is He! And yes, there is a spot for each one of us on this Lovely One's wounded breast.

Looking forward to the picture and to part Two . . . :)

I sure do appreciate you comments Charlie! As a writer it means a lot to me that you take the time and write about the details of my story. It's great that you pick up what I was trying to express.

I see that you noticed I posted the story in two places. I did it because I know many people on the forum usually don't come to the Bride thread so I thought I would have a better chance of others reading if I posted seperately.

So here's more of the story...

...How could the Soul arise and go to Him? Poor little One! For so long she was lying in a dark place, entrapped in the thorns of fear and sin, so quiet and still she lay. Truthfully there was hardly any life left in her and no one knew how desperately ill she was, one who understood, one who cared, such a lover was beyond knowing. She knew she was not worthy of Him. She never dared believe that He would come her way since she lacked the grace and beauty of a princess and He was the Prince of Peace, the Great Knight of knights. All hope had gone from her weak, unbelieving heart. Filled with self pity, the maiden moaned in a song-song voice:

“Poor Soul that liest in the weary way.
Who shall hear thee pray?
Covered by thorns and wounded sore,
Who will hear thy voice implore?
What brave heart will dare pass,
Or touch with His foot the shivering grass?
O Soul weep and bleed!
Who will reach thee in thy need?
Thou waitest in hope for but One,
Will He come…will He come?”

Just as the last thread of hope gave way, the winds began to sing to her again. He came! He came to the hiding place where she lay beneath the briars. He came to the sickly Soul. His heart pulsated with a love that filled His being, flooding His limbs, even His fingertips. This love was compassionate, desperate and had to act. He could not wait for another to rescue the fainting soul. No one had the power to cut the thorns asunder. Only He could show such mercy as to be her Deliver.

Leaning over her, the Knight began to pour Himself out to the young maiden, more tenderly then a mother grieving over a sick child. His sadness visited her in wordless tears and yearning. Deep, deep was His desire to heal her. He pressed His face against her back and head. Gently turning her to face His, with long delicate breaths He breathed on her face and hands, instilling life. Lastly His hair swept over her heart. He kissed her.

Slowly, life began to fill her body. The Knight quickly pulled her close to His heart.
“Live! Live!” He commanded. “Live!”

Like a rose coming into full bloom, the Soul opened her eyes, and her cheeks flushed pink. She smiled. The princely Knight leaned over her with a satisfied sigh. He then sang to Soul her first melody of holy love…

Next: The Knight’s love song.

Ames,
I dearly love that story! I sure hope your friend does still have a copy. And I love the painting you put with it, at the bottom of the post.

I was going to post another part of my story but I will wait. I don't want to interrupt the flow of yours!

Evangelica, yes I think that was posted somewhere here before. I have never seen it though. I will have to check it out. Thanks!

Well, Amy (kisstheson) told me to go ahead and post, so...
here is the next part of the story. I hope you guys will like it and see YOURSELF in it! And most of all, see HIM, our Beloved Jesus!
note: the last paragraph is in bold type, I don't know why. I can't seem to get it back to regular.:help:

The Wedding

The guests were assembled in the Great Hall. Angels escorted them as they entered and brought
each one to their seats. God the Father smiled, his heart swelling with love and joy to have his
people gathered near him. His Holy Spirit hovered. Amid candle glow and shimmering light
glinting off of golden walls, the crowd was suddenly hushed as they became aware of the
arrival of another presence. Jesus, God’s Son and chosen Lamb, stepped up to the altar.
Resplendent in his wedding robes, his sword glittered on his thigh. His crown rested regally on
his head, his raven locks offset by its burnished gold. The long sleeves of his garment hid the
light filled wounds in his hands. Every eye was fixed upon him. His loving look fell upon each
person in the crowd singularly, for this was no crowd to him...He knew each name, every face.
He smiled warmly at them all, and he shared his Father’s joy at their presence. The perfume of
tens of thousands of flowers was heady in the warm air, mingled with the scent of the burning
candles and the incense of continuous praises. Jesus breathed deeply. Then as he turned his
gaze, the eyes of all those assembled followed his to look down the aisle towards the hall’s
entryway. Jesus smiled as he looked longingly towards the door. In just moments he would see
her approaching......His Bride. He stood very tall, his heart beating soundly in His chest. A deep,
contented peace flooded him, for he was peace itself....but still his heart beat faster as he
anticipated the sight of His Beloved.

Then silently the doors were opened and she appeared beneath the archway. The Bride of Christ.
Jesus took a step forward, searching for her face. Attended by a bright angel at each side and
followed by handmaidens clad in beautiful, shining robes, she paused before stepping through the
door. She breathed a prayer of thanksgiving to Father God and wiped away a tear. Then she lifted
her head and began her long walk down the aisle that would lead her to her King.

The guests drew in their collective breath to see the extravagant beauty with which Jesus had
chosen to adorn his bride. The long, sumptuous train of her white-gold gown slid silently over
the rose petals beneath her feet. Her veil draped gracefully down her back and gently skimmed
her face. Its floating, gossamer fabric subtly shimmered with threads of gold and silver,
complementing the sparkling tiny diamonds of her dress. A blood-red robe of soft, velvet
crimson rested upon her shoulders, a testament to her Beloved’s sacrifice on her behalf. He alone
had brought her to this day. Looking down the long, flower strewn pathway to the altar, she
strained to find his face. Then as their eyes met, her soul leapt within her and the flowers she
carried trembled in her hands. Jesus beamed at her, his joy evident to all. Her heart skipped a
beat as she saw him smile, and she smiled shyly back at him through her veil. Tears overflowed
her eyes as she walked slowly, each measured step taking her closer to his side. His face filled
all her vision. Her darling Jesus! She wanted to run to him, to leap into his arms...not knowing
that he was restraining himself from running to her. He smiled to himself as he conquered the
urge to sweep her up and carry her away. His thoughts raced within him.

"At last, at last you come to Me! Oh, my Bride, My own...just a few more steps..."
As she drew closer and closer to the altar, Jesus stepped down and with one determined stride
closed the last remaining distance between them with a joyous finality. She took his eagerly
outstretched hand and together they walked to the candle lit altar. Jesus wrapped his fingers
tightly around hers as she stepped up to take her place at his side. Her hand trembled in his, but
one look from his eyes calmed her. Standing by her side before his Father, Jesus smiled at his
beloved and looked from her face to Adonai’s, his eyes brimming with tears of joy and sublime
happiness. God returned his son’s smile, and as he turned his gaze to Bride, the Father broke
the sacred silence with tones of love.

"Let us begin. Shall we?" He asked Bride gently, and she smiled and nodded happily in
agreement.

God lifted his face to look upon the guests who filled the hall. The voice of Life and
Righteousness and Holiness filled the room and all of eternity. The breath of every created being
was stilled as He commanded their rapt attention and reverence. The authority of Yahweh
himself penetrated the atmosphere and filled every creature with absolute awe. He spoke each
word with its full weight of significance and glory.

"Throughout the ages of eternity, My Son has waited in faithful patience for this day. It is my
supreme joy to now grant him his heart’s great desire. Jesus is exalted above all, for he is My
Son and My Holy Lamb. He is your King. By the immeasurable price of his own blood he has
purchased this woman and each one of you present here. It is his sacrifice that is the surety of
this bride’s perfection. She is worthy to be called my daughter, and now she is also worthy to be
called the wife of my son, for this bride has made herself ready." His warm, compassionate
gaze of approving love fell upon the woman.
"Daughter, you are anointed by my Spirit. You are clothed in the wedding garment your beloved
has made for you. The whiteness of purity and the red of his worthy blood."

Adonai spoke to Jesus.
"My Son, this is the day of your reward.
And though you have many, many rewards, with all of eternity to enjoy them... now your joy
shall be made full.
It is not good for man to be alone. Your bride is your mate. She is the companion you have
longed for in your soul. Your bride is the crown of your victory, she is the full and consummate
recompense of your Passion. You passed from life to death and from death to life again to save
her and to secure her, this one whom you have chosen and whom I created to belong to you. I
Myself planned her very existence from all ages past. I ordained her to be yours. Now my
son..." The Father paused as His voice broke with emotion. "My Son. Give my daughter your
pledge and take her as your wife." With these words, the Father placed a hand on Jesus’ back
and turned his son to face his bride.

She looked into her Bridegroom’s face as Jesus took both of her hands into his own. He opened
his mouth to speak, then fell silent and bowed his head. He took a deep breath. Then lifting his
eyes to hers, he spoke softly to her. Her face glowed beneath her veil.
"My Beloved." He gripped her hands tighter. "My Beloved. For so long I have waited to say
these words to you."

"I am yours from this day forth. Already in your earthly lifetime you have been mine. You have
become Mine. And now our love shall be made full. You and I shall be all that My Father
always meant for us to be. What I have always yearned for us to be."

"All that I longed for you to become, you have become. You have let me be all to you. And you
are all to me." Jesus stopped as his bride began to weep. Her shoulders shook gently as she tried
not to cry. With his hand he touched her face to lift her gaze to his, and reaching beneath her
veil he gently brushed away her tears. His voice dropped to a whisper.

"All I have dreamed of and longed for...you are. I give to you all that I Am and all that I have.
My heart is yours. My soul is yours. My love, my life, is yours." Then he laughed and his voice
rang with joy. "My Kingdom is yours! All my authority I give to you." He paused and again his
tone grew soft. With affectionate reverence Jesus said, "You alone possess Me. And I shall
possess you in tenderness and fidelity and unceasing love. I will guard you and keep you. I am
your God and I am your husband. In My Father’s Name, I take you now to forever be my wife."

With these words, Jesus took her hand and placed his ring upon her finger. A tear fell from her
eyes and sank into the wound on his hand. Touching him, the tear became a fragrant oil.
The Father placed his hand on bride’s shoulder, and she shyly lifted her face to him.
"Now, My daughter. Give your pledge to your Beloved."

Bride drew in a tremulous breath. Then she looked directly and lovingly into Jesus’ eyes. Her
heart swooned as he looked at her searchingly. His ears and heart and soul had so longed for the words
she was about to say.

"My darling Lord." Her voice was perceptible only to him. She spoke slowly, her voice full of
emotion and adoration. "My Jesus. My Yeshua.... I love You. Oh, I love You!" Her words were
a whispered cry. "I love you. It is my honor and my joy to be your wife. I promise to love you,
I promise to be faithful to you. I promise to obey you. I promise...." She could barely speak.
"I promise...."

Jesus smiled, leaning closer to her face. His heart melted as she struggled to find her voice. His
soul ached with yearning and tenderness for her. He waited.
"I promise You all of me. For ever." Her whisper grew louder as she again looked into his eyes.
"Forever. I am my beloved’s....." Jesus spoke the next words with her.
"....And my beloved is mine," they said together. With trembling hands Bride gently placed her
wedding band on Jesus’ finger. His smile widened as she looked up at him.

A single, holy tear of love escaped the Father’s eyes. He waited a moment as Jesus and his wife
looked at each other, hands clasped and souls united. The rest of creation had faded from view
for them and they saw only each other. Then silently He brought forth a crown. The Father
handed the gleaming diadem to Jesus who received it reverently into his wounded hands.
Looking lovingly into the eyes of his bride, he placed it carefully upon her veiled head. His
hands rested upon her face as she stood silently before him.

Again the Father spoke.
"Do you, Jesus, take this woman to forever be your wife?"
Jesus’ gaze never left her face. "I do." His answer echoed with joyous strength. Squeezing her hands,
he lifted them to his lips and kissed her fingertips.
"And do you, woman, take Jesus to be your husband for all eternity."
Her voice was full of love and worship. "I do."

Placing His hands of blessing on both of them, Adonai spoke slowly, relishing His words.
"With all My power, with all My heart’s joy - I declare you Husband and Wife. The two are
One. So I declare it. So it shall always be." He smiled broadly at his son as Jesus looked up at
him expectantly.
"The gift is given. You may kiss your bride!"

Jesus gently raised the veil from Bride’s face. Then lifting her into His arms, He sealed their
vows with His kiss. The Hall erupted with jubilant celebration. Jesus swept his wife off of her
feet, spinning her around and around and around.

Their dance had just begun.

I'm back and my heart is so full of things I could share. Amy Lisa, I appreciated every detail you wrote here, from the description of the bridal dress, to the raven locks and golden crown - contrasting colors on Jesus' head, to the Father's single holy tear and candles, incense, rose petals filling the room where we are invited to watch the Bridegroom and Bride in this beautiful moment. My thoughts here don't even begin to address the insight you have concerning the hearts of Abba, Jesus and the Bride. Such treasures are found in your writing Amy Lisa. I hope that all who read this come back and read it again and again and that they would let this portrayal of our future wedding with Jesus sink into their hearts.

Your story also reminded me of my own personal experience. I share it in the hopes that it may encourage others who would choose Christ alone as a Spouse and that was the day I married Jesus in an ecumentical ceremony performed by a RCC priest. There was a Jewish Huppah (sp?) and underneath it someone held up an icon of Jesus. I wore a real wedding veil and I felt many of the feelings you wrote about in your story. When I stepped under the huppah the priest said, "When I lift your veil you will behold the face of your Bridegroom." Of course the icon only represented Jesus. I did have a ring blessed by the priest also. We took actual wedding vows. They were the same traditional wedding vows usually said at weddings, the added difference being, "and even in death you shall not part." After I said my vows the priest invited me, "You may kiss your Bridegroom." It was pure joy to give a grateful kiss to the representation of Jesus

"So ardently she sought My gentle heart to claim,
To bind it with a cord and hold it fast with chains.
But the chains she sought to form are weak compared to Mine.
My chains are more powerful to hold and to bind.
Yea, even from eternity past,
I bound her to My heart and held her sure and fast!"

Jesus will never let go of His Bride!

Beloved ones,
This is so true! I recall my own vows to serve Jesus faithfully and forever, and the many ways I fell flat on my face. He showed me that he would make me be faithful to him, and I rejoiced to know it. I in myself could not keep myself pure before him, but he never let go of me, not even when I let go of him. He wooed me ever. He never despised me for my sins and my loss of faith. He always showed me compassion. It was in being his bride that the victory was found.

Amylisa, I just loved what you wrote about Jesus and Bride and the wedding gown. I have cried openly while reading this thread.

I too long for Heaven. But we must remember that as long as we remain we have work to do that we cannot do there. There are so many lost who still need to be found. And I believe that what we are and do here helps determine what we will be like in eternity--remember, each star varies in brightness. Our life on earth will one day seem like just a drop in an endless ocean compared to the rest of eternity, so let us make the best of it while we can!

So much for preaching. Now I'll read the rest of the thread. I wrote this after reading page 6.

Well, I have finished reading what is on this thread so far, and I have been crying again. What a beautiful representation of the divine wedding!
I, too, had a ceremony in which I married Jesus, although my pastor refused to officiate, saying that baptism is the marriage ceremony. I prayed about the matter for quite some time to see whether this wedding should take place. One by one Jesus approved each element until I had a ceremony in my home with my daughter and three friends and only God the Father to officiate. It was when Jesus-in-me placed the ring on my finger, and later when I stomped on the wineglass, that I was set free from my desire for other men.
Although for me it does not say that I couldn't marry someone else in this world, I don't know that I want to. If my heart were the only consideration, I wouldn't think of it these days. If I did marry in this world, the man would have to be as dedicated to being Christ's bride as me, and the union would have to further his kingdom in ways that staying alone would not.

Dear sister Amylisa,

This next part of the story is so beautiful. To capture that moment when Bride and Bridegroom finally meet face-to-face and become one for all eternity - this will surely be the most blissful moment ever in the universe!

I was really touched by the way that our Beloved Jesus and His Bride could not take their eyes off of each other. Their mutual desire was to gaze upon the one they had loved for so long. "His face filled all her vision. Her darling Jesus!" O that His face, the face of our darling Jesus, would fill all of our vision, even in this life-time, even at this very moment! May He give us eyes that see only Him!

O her garment, the absolutely stunning beauty of her garment! "Daughter, you are anointed by my Spirit. You are clothed in the wedding garment your beloved has made for you. The whiteness of purity and the red of his worthy blood." Our wedding garment is so stunningly beautiful because it is something of Him and His beauty. It will be our surpreme delight to be clothed in the white and the red that our Beloved has prepared for us.

O the words they speak to one another. Here is Jesus speaking to His lovely Bride: ""All I have dreamed of and longed for...you are. I give to you all that I Am and all that I have. My heart is yours. My soul is yours. My love, my life, is yours." Then he laughed and his voice
rang with joy. "My Kingdom is yours! All my authority I give to you." What words of encouragement! All He is and all He has, we will share with Him forever! He will give to us All He is! He will give to us all He has! All the riches of Christ will be ours to enjoy with Him forever! What a rich, glorious, intimate, union of love is to be ours with Him forever!

And the words she speaks to Him! "I promise You all of me. For ever." Her whisper grew louder as she again looked into his eyes. "Forever. I am my beloved’s....." Jesus spoke the next words with her. "....And my beloved is mine," Our supreme joy is to give Him all of us! How wonderful it is to see how much He is affected by His Bride fully yielding up all she is to Him. What joy we will bring to His heart. What a delight it will be to affect Him, our dear Beloved, so deeply.

Dearest Amylisa, you have made me fall in love with Him even more! I love Him and long for Him even more! My heart simply can not contain all my longings for Him!

I thank you so much for sharing this rich treasure with all of us. We love You, dear Lord Jesus! How we long to see you Face-to-face! Keep our gaze fixed always on You, utterly lovely One!
