  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Edie made her way back to Edward and sat next to him. She set her backpack on her lap, "Okay, I edited, but I couldn't think of anything to put so I left that for you." She looked up toward the front when the principal climbed onboard to make the normal announcements about school bus etiquette. "So where are we going again? I think I was asleep when the made this announcement."

Deedra strolled the park, pushing the new juice stand. The juice bar was branching out, at least during the day. Lori thought it would be a good idea to give her another shift, as the juice bar could now afford to give her more time, as Pamela's son passed away, unable to get enought treatment in time, and Pam moved closer to her parents. Now the juice bar was in need of another employee, and Dee was working more often than she ever had. She felt guilty about it though, because her gain only came from a great loss. The park almost empty, she sat on her favorite bench, for a break.

Edward kept his eyes forward as he spoke. "We're going to the town's tallest building, the Moon-Piercer. It was named because it was supposed to be the tallest building in the world, but budget cuts stopped construction on it temporarily. We're supposed to come here to see the town from high above, and to talk about the town's history...." Edward said.

The bus shook to life, and pulled loudly out of the school parking lot. The bus rocked, and heeved with effort as it drived down the paved streets. Edward tried to remember the name of a criminal to kill as he drove, but he couldn't--his mind kept going back to Detective Johnson, who had nearly discovered him during an announcement to the public.

FLASHBACK

"We have reason to believe someone in the public of Quitman is killing all of these criminals. We have reason to believe that it is either a high school student, or a college student, as the killings have normally occured between the hours of three and ten P.M." The man, with short black hair, cropped close to his skull, as well as eyes that appeared to be hardened chocolate covered diamonds, stood facing the T.V. screen. He was not nervous of the camera's presence.

"Reports also state that all of the deaths were caused by heart attacks....Although a simple deduction would state that heart attacks are not very common, and even selecting criminals, still at large or otherwise, is too good to be true....We are currently researching this problem...."

'I could kill him...' Edward thought, 'but then the local T.V. stations will be able to trace it back to anyone watching a T.V. right now. And, if he's smart, he's probably using a fake name...." Edward thought to himself.

END FLASHBACK

"Then, I guess I'll just have to come up with something...." Edward said to no one in particular.

-----------------------------

They arrived at the skyscraper, and everyone pretended to be interested, despite threats of testing the unfortunate students on the buildings architecture and history. Edward snuck to a nearby open window while the lady blabbering about the skyscraper droned.

Edward leafed through the blank pages of the book, and counted exactly fifteen. Then, he ripped them from the book's binding, and held them over the edge of the winbdowsill.

"Nowq....Detective Johnson will never find just one person who is Dios...." Edward grinned to himself at the thought. Little did he know, video cameras watched as he opened his hand, scttering all fifteen pages into the wind....

Deedra looked up, daydreaming, when she saw several peices of paper blew toward her. Disgusted by the littering, she rushed after the pages, trying to catch them. She only suceeded in getting a few of them. She looked at them. Why would anyone surrender blank pages? Oh, well. no sense in throwing them away, as they were in good shape. She folded them and put them in her pocket, as she could use them for notes, instead of her arm.

((I forget, do the page owners see the Angel of Death?))

Bob looked up as several white pages blew over his head. Reaching up, he grabbed one, and let the others blow by. After peering at both sides curiously, he decided that this blank page needed something written on it. Pulling out a pen, he began walking and writing at the same time, using his left hand as a surface to write against. The page was made of good paper, and could handle being jabbed against his soft palm.

Bob was still smarting from the double loss of a week ago, so he wrote his story about that chess game - but his version ended a little differently.

Bob was just winding up his story when he sensed someone nearby. Looking up, he realized that there were actually two people nearby - Deedra on his right with her juice stand, and Alfred on his left, heading for the juice stand with a chessboard under his arm.

Edie did a double take as Edward let the pages fly. "Umm... You know what, I'm not even gonna ask. But seriously, why do we have to learn about the town history from a too short tall building? Oh, and I was supposed to tell you that Ashley Handel really, really likes you and wants you to call her." Edie kept rambling on, something she tended to do when she was trying to think about something completely unrelated.

"That was supposed to enable us to get the p[olice off our backs for a while. If we stop the killings for a few days, then....Someone else may get caught in our place." Edward said.

"She always says that...Edie, are you even listening to me?" Edward asked. Then, the chaparone turned around.

"You two! Get away from that window!!" she said.

Deedra bolted up as a customer, obviously intent on playing chess, approached.
"Can I get a cinnimon vanilla shake?" He asked
"$2.20" She said. She decided to make non-drone conversation, in hopes of a tip."What is it about chess in a park that is so alluring?"
"Ha ha, I think it has to do with creating battle in somewhere peaceful."
She didn't think he's take her question non-rhetorically. She just smiled and handed him his shake. Thank goodness he had exact change!
