are you talking of the flesh and the spirit?

i could briefly say that the flesh is our fleshy lusts ,doing things to please ourselves and what our earthly bodies want ,this can include many things ,but the spirit is on serving God and given no thought for our bodies and the lusts of this world.
when we serve God we speak His word and serve and please Him we devote our time to speaking His word to others and being examples of His love in our every action .
we do what His word as told us we speak the same and do likewise we are examples of what all His word as taught us in all we do.
paul speaks of this in a lot more detail and a lot better than me.
if we serve God 100% our bodly needs will be catered for but we are not to care for them as in go lusting after them just serve God above all and the rest will be added to us.
i don't know if i've explained it right but paul does talk of this a lot better and mention a lot more things and in detail.

God bless.

the flesh and the spirit are opposed to eachother

I feel that fasting may in someway be denying the flesh and focusing more on the spirit. I feel when I do this, I am MUCH more aware of God, and it also helps me worship Him in spirit as we are supposed to.

Since God is spirit, He does not have a body. This allows Him to accomplish things a body cannot accomplish.
Luke 24:39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.”

The body is the temple of the spirit and soul. Jesus promised and said that He went to build us mansions to live in that would be eternal. This refers to eternal bodies where as the bodies we now inhabit are tents. Ha! Truly we sojourn in this temporary body, and walk towards that mansion.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

As long as we dwell in this flesh, we will battle its lusts:

Galatians 5:17 (LIV) For we naturally love to do evil things that the Holy Spirit tells us not to do; and the good things we want to do when the Holy Spirit has His way with us are just the opposite of our natural desires. These two forces within us are constantly fighting each other to win control over us, and our wishes are never free from their pressures.

Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Gal. 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Ephesians 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
