The earth here did not exist yet. It was formless and void -- without material existence. The waters mentioned here is not H2O as nothing was created yet. This "waters" is actually describing a "superfluid" universe, which I believe existed before creation, that is, the big bang.

That's quite a huge stretch - cherry-picking tabloid reports of speculative science is not a reliable way of supporting scripture. Remember that the people who wrote the scriptures had not the faintest idea about the fabric of spacetime, or its properties; and the idea of spacetime as a superfluid vacuum is entirely speculative.

Similarly, the mechanism of directly converting high-energy photons into electrons described in your previous link isn't making matter in the sense an average person would understand it - at best, it's an extremely expensive and wasteful way of doing what plants do when they photosynthesise.

Once again, the evidence for an old earth is really beyond debate. It is a closed shop in science, no one questions the evidence. The evidence comes from all different areas in science and is above any personal opinions.

Do you have to become a scientist to perceive this evidence, because I cannot think of any such evidence off the top of my head. The only thing that comes to mind is the carbon dating stuff, but I heard this was unreliable. Why wouldn't people begin to see whatever secular science tells them when they have committed to taking on their framework?

I think the evidence should be questioned again and again...and again.

Also, assuming that dating methods are correct to what exists now, why would anyone trust that it remains the same since the beginning, especially since death has since entered the world, along with great catastrophes?

The argument that evolution ( or abiogenesis, which is what you seem to be talking about now) is a "creatorless narrative" is fundamental dishonest. The theory of evolution, like all other scientific theories, makes no statement about whether or not there was a creator. Evolutionary theory is not a godless alternative to God's authorship of our being.

The creation/evolution debate is not about the existence of God or His authorship of our being, it's about the Bible. Trying to turn it into a theism/atheism debate is fundamentally dishonest.

Unbelief doesn't need any crutches. (I'm not sure what it's being propped-up anyway.)

Unbelief is just not believing something. I know this is hard for many of you believers to understand, since you can't imagine not believing in something (god) that seems so fundamental to you. It's hard for us to even explain it to many of you since the best examples (other supernatural things) of things many atheists also do not believe in (like ghosts, ESP, or bad luck) that may be things that theists also don't believe in either are seen as belittling or mocking to make parallel to the god belief. When we've done so we (usually) aren't mocking the gods believed in by the religious, but the comparisons are perceived in as offensive.

As for the failure of my belief it was driven by: 1. an understanding of the history of the biblical period and the formation of the texts, 2. lack of personal spiritual experiences (no Holy Spirit experiences), and 3. my experience of the world I lived in as predictable, repeatable, and natural. Science only played a part in the last of these.
