• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The BEST way to commit suicide, is really a living suicide.

THIS IS NOT A CLICHE'!

Giving up EVERYTHING for Christ Jesus. I mean if I was going to kill myself anyway, I would give up everything for Christs service. It's called dying daily, dying unto yourself. Put every thought, every bit of power, all your available funds to Christ. Trick is you are not allowed to actually kill yourself, because you need to stay alive in order to be a living suicide.

Not that I am great...but here's what I am doing. I have certain obligations before Christ, number one teach my kids about Christ, and love 'em to pieces, feed 'em, clothe 'em, keep 'em dry most the time:)
However, as long as I can fulfill that obligation of love and care to my kids, and earn enough money to pay the bills, I am free to give EVERYTHING to Christ. So that's my goal, give my time (I evangelize), give my love (I visit sick people, and isolated miserable sinners), do missions when I can get away. In fact I have a plan where in few years, when my kids are on their own, I will move into minimal expense dwelling of my chosing, sell my house, and car, whatever, and give everything else to Christ, one way or another (missions, evangelism expenses, the poor). I am also eliminating expenses such as videos, movies, non healthy food, excessive clothing, and unessential pastimes. It's my version, or at least an attempt at Christian life of sacrifice and mercy. I choose to give it up for Christ.

This takes a lot more guts than other choices.

If you read all the post about suicide in the forum group, you have to admit there are all kinds of attitudes about suicide.

One kind of suicidal person is philosophical, and sees suicide as the ultimate form of expression of rebellion against an outrageous world. I was that way as a teenager. Nobody jogged my sensibilities about other radical options, just running away to Canada. Living in voluntary simplicity, and radically devoting ones life, as an actual sacrifice of one's way, is an option worth considering.

I chose this title because sometimes people who are considering physical suicide need something that grabs their attention, and essentially rescues their mind with an alternative to live meaningfully.

I began with disenchantment as a kid, to outrage, to suicidality, to studying nihilism existentialism, not hearing anybody suggest that was a radical way to survive outrage. For example my outlook on life was essentially being raised as fodder for the canon of the Vietnam War. Life was offering depressingly few alternatives...I wish somebody had offered a Christian radical devotion lifestyle. So....

hi :) hey that sounds good.
I'm totally not seriously thinking about suicide, but like today when I feel pressed [I I thought stuff like I wanna be dead, just for a sec, but just as in I can't stand the pressure], I mean, it's so weird I'm kinda in-between giving it all to God and taking the easy road, well I don't know. Now I'd say wow I love God, and I *wanna* give Him all, it used to pretty much work like this, and maybe I should just carry on like this.

Dear GodOwnsMe:

I am very glad you want to live. And glad you could respond positively to these posts.

Jesus Christ is our major, major advocate, he says he wants us to choose life. Not this world, but live in it filled with his Life. It is a choice to decide to live for Christ, and always a choice. But it is good to choose to live for Christ even for a minute, better and an hour, and best to live for him all the time. The easiest, stress free way to live for Christ successfully is to 1)Ask God often to FILL you with the Spirit of his Son Jesus. 2) Give Jesus permission to live his way of life through you, everyday, even often. 3) Live expectantly, be aware of the good thoughts, or even the unconciously good deeds you will start to want to do. 3) And keep allowing those good things to flow from you. The good things are often very small at first, like the impulse to be courteous or kind to someone. Be patient. Recognize that every truly GOOD thing, even if it's small, comes from him, which is exciting when you realize it's God IN you doing it.

The really cool thing is you begin to feel the HIGH of being close to God. If you ask him he will give you more and more of that.

God Bless you richly.

The title of this forum is shocking and probably is in bad taste, as far most viewers are concerned. However, I am not ashamed of it, because I believe it does provoke some to think. My last post about HOW to live tuned in and motivated by God is really good and valuable, and I hope it makes up for the title post.

Wow-

Thank you, I suffer from depression and am feeling particulary sad today. (My brother died yesterday) Anyway, I typed in ways to commit suicide and I'm a member of Christian Forums, but your idea came up. I know that God sent your message to me and it helped a lot. I will be alright now and I will take your advice.

Thank you.
