  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Molly's Yes is the band, and Wonderworld is their album. (Wonderworld is the big release, but I think it also goes under the name Paper Judas in the Oklahoma area). I've heard them on the Tulsa radio stations, but then again they were from Tulsa. Anywhere else I'm not sure they are heard of. Not all the CD is great, but the songs that are good are some of the best I have ever heard. "Sugar" "Fall Down" "Scars" "Girlfriend are all great songs. They are rock, not much different than a normal rock band, but better in my opinion.

Depeche Mode - The Singles: '86-'98 (1998) This compilation of Depeche Mode's hits is enough to satisfy even the most hardcore DM fan. Disk 1 features the hit tracks "Personal Jesus", "Policy of Truth", "Enjoy the Silence", and "The World in My Eyes". Disk 2 features their more recent tracks such as "Home", "Barrell of a Gun", "It's No Good", and "Only When I Lose Myself". Of course, it has one of my two favorite DM songs on there as a bonus track (Everything Counts) but does not have "Freestate" from their Ultra album.

Paul Oakenfold - Perfection - The Perfecto Compilation (1996) One of critic's least favorite Oakenfold albums. It's a little more House and a little less Trance. There is only one track on the album I don't care for but the rest is amazing.

Angie Aparo - The American (2000) This guy is from my area (Atlanta, GA) and his voice is amazing. Angie has a broad range and his voice is so smooth. The American has the hit single "Spaceship" along with other tracks that are sure to move you. This is one of those CD's you listen to all the way through and never skip over a track.

wow what an interesting thread...

nice...eyes of stanley pain and calculating infinity are albums I'd like to pick up, waiting in my amazon gold box to be picked up!

As for trip-hop, nice recommendations, I'm gonna have to say emiliani torrinni, and satellite dub for one's people might not have heard of. emiliiani torrinni has her cd' love in the time of science'.

some of my picks are

dead can dance - toward the within. pre-gothic, middle eastern, i don't know, all i know is that its a good live album, although a bit overrated.

high contrast - true colors This is some really soulful, funky jungle/drum n'bass. I haven't listen to this album, but i have almost all the songs on vinyl and they are great! global love and return of forever are classics.

dntel - you might know deathcab for a cutie, you might know postal service , but dont forget dntel. The tunes are a bit slower than anything coming off of PS, but it makes for a relaxing, overall soothing album.

if you want some dark drum'n bass , and you take interest in punk, hardcore, or metal, you just might like ed rush and optical's - torque.

lastly, why not include some awesome Christian albums!

someone mentioned Violet burning. Their cd 'this is the moment' is awesome. every one of the songs on that album is good, and they are a great live show

ok, so I've sorta mentioned this in other threads, but I can't believe that noone has mentioned My Bloody Valentine, Loveless. I personally think it's an amazing album. I'm sorta getting into Denali, but don't know much.....Yo La Tengo's cool. I'm a fan of elliot smith's earlier work.

I only have Summer Sun, which I like. I don't know a whole lot about a lot of their older stuff, unfortunately. I listened to a small bit of Sounds of the Sounds of Science, and I really liked what I heard. If you check out Sounds, let me know what you think....

Also, have you heard of Olivia Tremor Control? They get grouped a lot in write ups w/Neutral Milk Hotel. Again, I haven't listened to a whole lot, but I REALLY liked what I heard. check them out
