The beginning...

Ok, so I'm curious how your relationship got started. Did you ask him or her out or did they ask you out. And tell me the story about how it all began. Oh and my favourite where did you or your significant other ask you out.

My bf asked me out in the middle of our high school hall right after the bell rang for us to go to our classes after lunch. I didn't hear him the first time cuz it was sooo loud, so I was like "what did you say?" and he turned a bit red and was like "uhh, you wanna go out with me?" and I wasn't expecting it so I was like "uhh, ok" with a huge smile on my face. and he took my hand and walked me to my class. Needless to say I don't remember anything from that class. .

So tell me how it all began for you...

My husband and I met at school. He liked me but I wasn't so sure if I liked him. Eventually, I began to realise that I liked him too and I was going to ask him out (he'd already asked me but I turned him down )....but then he called me and we talked about things over the phone and our relationship start from there.

Well at least you can admit you weren't so sure at first, I mean it's completely understandable considering dating is something you do to get married and it's a huge step so at least you gave it some thought first.

our was kind of complicated. We had been friends for a while and we talked about it dating. he really wanted to, but i wasn't 100% sure i did. I had broken up with my last bf in April and this was middle of november. I just wasn't sure i wanted to commit myself to a relationship that probably wouldn't last. So we talked about, then talked about it some more, and when we thought we were done talking about, we talked it over again. We went to talk to my mom and to ask her, but we both chickened out...it was Saturday November 20, 2004. That next day my dad had to go to the airport to fly down to Georgia to get a car and mom didn't want to drive back by herself, so i went with them. On the way back, i asked her if she liked Ben and if she'd like to have him around more. Then i asked if it would be ok with her if we started dating. She said that it was ok with her, so when i got home i told him. It's been great since then.

Well, neither one of us actually asked the other one to go out. It just sort of happened.

It was September of our freshman year at college and we met through a mutual creep (steve). At first I thought this dude was OK, hung out with him and went walking around the dorm meeting new people. We stopped by one room where there was a girl (katie) and a guy (dennis) hanging out. They both seemed cool and I remember thinking the girl was very nice to talk to and was quite hot. (haha) I stopped hanging out with steve and started hanging out with Katie and Dennis watching movies, playing pool, and just talking over dinner.

I'm usually quite antisocial and like being by myself... but one Saturday morning Katie came to my room and asked if she wanted to go see a movie with me and some of her friends. I had the words "no thanks" on the tip of my tongue, but then figured... heck, I'm in college, it's time to take a chance... so I did.

Even longer story short, her friend Dennis ended up just ditching her for a girlfriend, and I somehow "took over" and we hung out every day, several times a day and quickly came to realize how amazing she was and that we were meant to be together. We were best friends to begin with, and over time we just started feeling closer and closer untill one day we both said "I love you." and just picked a day to set as our anniversary as it was very foggy as to where the romantic relationship actually began. So, we said Jan 30th.

So, nearly 3 years later, we're still going strong and I'm just waiting to ask her to marry me. She was my very best friend from day one, and will always be.

ahhh... well... i met my boyfriend here on CF. then about a year ago we met up for the first time in person... hung out a fair few more times, and it kinda just happened. Although after a sleepless night (following a great day together) I emailed him - because i was barely home at all that day - and said 'so whats the deal here?' And that was back in february

I met my bf at a Bible study. I met his roommates first; he was really shy. But he was so cute...and I started wanting to get to know him. So I tried to get one of his roommates to find out if he liked me...I was anxious to know. It was taking too long though...so I called him up causually for a movie...if I remember correctly....etc...lol...and then we started going out a few times by ourselves (before that we'd always gone with other people...)...then we had some nice long talks...and then I think I asked him about us going out or something....like I wanted to know if we were dating then...lol...I don't remember...then he thought about it and "officially" asked me out one night when he was over at my place....he was so shy...it was so cute....

It's sounds like you and your mom are pretty clos, that's awesome, and the fact that she was ok with you two going out is even more awesome.

Steve must have been a pretty bad guy for you to call him a "mutual creep" lol.
Anyway that's a sweet story, I've actaully never heard of a couple that didn't "officially" have a date that they began their romantic relationship, but that's cool, some people find it kind of corny to actually ask the other person out. Me personally I thought it was cute, and it clears up the questions like "can I hold his/her hand", "is it ok if I put my arm around her" at least for us it did.

well i knew him since we were little cause my friend is his cousin so every christmas all of our families would get together. one christmas break me, my brother, my friend and anthony (my now bf) were at barnes and noble. anthony and i were in my car and my friend and brother were about to get in the car but anthony locked the doors so they couldn't get in. they were bangin on the doors and yellin and he wouldn't let them in. i didn't know what was going on. i figured anthony wanted to tell me something so i drove the car over to a parking space and sat there, waiting for him to say something. he said "tara, i like you." and i was like "cool, i like you too!" and he was like "will you go out with me?" i was so excited LOL. then my brother and friend came over to the car and anthony unlocked the doors. lol...cute story huh?

I love hearing all the stories....

Mine is interesting, I met my boyfriend last March of '05 at a Young Adult Retreat, I had never seen him before, and it wasn't really like at first sight...anyway, We stayed in contact after that talked on the phone and things. I really enjoyed his church so I would go and visit when I could, I have a church of my own, there was actually someone else that I kinda liked at the time, in the space of the 7 or 8 months that we knew each other I thought I liked several other guys. Came to realize that none of them were the one, or even one that I wanted to date.

My sweetheart had been so supportive through all the things that I had gone through in the last year and always there to listen to me if I needed to talk even when I was talking to him about another guy. I didn't realize how hard it was for him, he had liked me the whole time since we met in March...and all the following happened in October....

The same week that I had realized that the guy who I thought was the one, didn't like me and was never going to and there was no point in obsessing over someone who (looking back) so obviously wasn't the one I should be dating...I didn't realize this story was so long sorry....That week I talked to my pastor and he advised me that is someone was to ask me out, just relax and see where it goes. I went to my sweethearts church on Sunday to go out to eat with him and some friends, on my way to take a friend home he told me to call him when I dropped her off. So I called him, and he asks me what I think about a friend of his, who I was attracted to or saw good traits in......well let's just say that wasn't the answer he was hoping for, but we ended up getting off the phone, and texted each other the next day, and were talking. I reminded him that he hadn't asked me what I thought about him, and that I find more than one guy attractive.....so we are talking on the phone, and he says "So I'm asking..." I was confused at first and then he explained what he meant. I told him that I needed to pray about it, and we didn't really talk much until Friday which was the next time that we saw each other. We didn't get much of a chance to talk we were around friends and had no time that night to talk, so we are sitting next to each other at the restaraunt texting each other on my phone, and that's when I told him yes....he didn't understand he was like "Yes what?" I said, "What did you ask me, yes to that..." It was really funny and it's a fun story to tell...

Sorry that was so long, I hope no one minds....I didn't realize how long our story was till I started...

Ok, we met in 1991 I believe. I was 6 or 7, he was 12. He and his friend use to play with me because my mother and his friends mom were good friends, so we were always at the same house together visiting one of them.

When I was 12, he was the cutest 17 year old high school senior I had ever seen, and me, being the outgoing girl that I am told him that I was in love with him and that I was going to marry him someday. He thought that was the sweetest thing any kid had ever said to him, and gave me a hug which made me melt. I moved away when I was 14 but still really liked him. I came back for college and a few months after I turned 18 we bumped into eachother while I was visiting my moms friend (he was over visiting her son, his friend...the one from when we were kids). Apparently because I was *legal* his feelings towards me changed. I was staying over at his friends house for about a week while my dorm was being set up and got a phone call from him inviting me to a movie. Dummy me thought that it was going to be him, myself, and his friend, as a nice gesture in showing me around being that I was still new to that area. He came to pick *us* up and started to lead me to the door as his friend came home, asked what we were doing, he said going to a movie and kind of shoved me out the door before his friend could ask to come along. That was when I got the hint that it was more of a *date* than a casual, friendly outing. We had the best time. He kissed me for the first time about a week later, asked me to be his girlfriend a week after that, and proposed to me almost a year and a half after that! We've been together for over 2 years and are still going strong.

He loves to tell the story to friends and family about how I predicted we would marry and have been in love with him since I was a kid. We will be marrying early-mid 2006.

Hmmm.. mines long.. and confusing... but I'll try...

It all start between 3-5 years ago. But by the sound of it, his started months before mine. He saw me at a youth group event (when we didn't know each other) and said, (pretty much) "she's hot, i want her"... My side started as just friends through email, and finally meeting at a friends school.

Months later wer started talking on the phone, and then he came down to meet me (with a full on 'crush'). Well first time was great, and second time he came down, he told me he liked me... and he got promptly shut down. And then again a few times over the next year.

By this point, he was my absolute best friend (this is where 3 years ago is) and we loved hanging out, and i could talk to him just about better than anyone. But i didn't like him enough.

School went by, i got a boyfriend, broke up, and went out with the exbf's best friend. Dont tell me it's silly, oh did i know. Sadly, that was started with my now fiance (W) in the room.. jealousy hit the roof so i was told. Me and this guy (B) who wasw my bf contined this relationship for about a year, and W had a couple of relationships in the time being. What i didn't know, was he was just pushing away the fact he loved me.

Well me and my (by this time) fiance B (yes not the one now) broke up all by his doing, and oh did it hurt. W was there constantly, and all the time really, and was best kind of support for me... And needless to say, i did rebound. That was 7 months before our relationship began.. but we were sort of in one, however i wasn't sure i liked him enough... So i play games for the next 7 months, and hurt him SO badly... Made it harder with 3 close deaths during the time for him. Then in April, we started going out, and july got engaged! The end

Oh not quite... I found a letter a few weeks back
Said ho he was wanting to marry me way back a year and a bit ago, just aafter i broke up... Made me so happy!
