The Apostle John who was given the prophecy that we know as the book of Revelation is also the author through divine inspiration of the book of John. Additionally, he is the one that gave us the word antichrist found in 1 John 2, 1 John 4 and 2 John 1.
If we look at the mark as being more symbolic rather than literal and we consider what spidergains said, "6-represents the worship of man, and is the number of man, signifying his rebellion..."
This rebellion as Paul would say in 2nd Thessalonians 2 is what will happen before the man of lawlessness is revealed and as I thought about that and the word rebellion and the fact that John wrote about the antichrist it came to me that John wrote one of the few chapters in the NT that has enough verses in it...huummmm...could it be....what does it say in John 6:66?
"From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him."
