  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

THe bare cheek!!

Guess what? Li'l old me is on the front cover of the Westside news promoting environmental respect, respect for the human body, and the use of sustainable transport such as bicycles.

Unfortunately, a few gymnophobic mothers don't think that it's such a good idea......

Read all about it!

If I lived in the area I wouldn't like people to do that either.. I would find that offensive.. I love the human body too.. but I don't need to run around/ride around naked to view my thoughts... Just ask me!!!

You talk about respect, then disrespect people by labellng them when they're opposed to your ideas?
Unless you know all of the mothers who are opposed, I don't see how you can label them with such a condition.

Anyway, I'm not a mother, nor do I suffer from gymnophobia, and I don't think it's a good idea either.
Forcing your values and ideals upon others by doing something like this is not the way to raise awareness of issues nor get public support.

Legal loopholes mean women can bare all on the World Naked Bike Ride, provided they remain in the saddle at all times.
For men, a strategically placed sock could prevent them getting booked.

I cant for the life of me imagine how such an event could possibly glorify God, therefore it seems to me to be of no use. In fact it seems to me that the event is more geared toward live porn, and should be condemned on that basis alone. Possibly a deterent to similar future events would be an audience that turns out in mass to point and laugh :)

These gymnophobic mothers you talk of(which I find very offensive) are just prasticing their God given right to make this world a safe place for their children.
THAT is doing Gods' will.
Not riding around naked and selfishly pushing you views on others with no regard for any one else.

Tgg, you have far too much time on your hands obviously. Of all things you want to promote and raise awarness of... What about this- Since 2003, Child abuse rates lower on the list of Australian's concerns than the price of fuel. In a report by the National Child Protection Clearinghouse in 2004, it found there was 91,734 reports of Child abuse. In 2002-03, there were 198,355 reports of child abuse. What about raising awareness in an area that will make a difference in the future generations. Do you really think in 5-6 years time that they will care that you organised a pack of people to ride on their bike nude?

Perhaps they cushion the seat first?

What if you fell off...then you'd be breaking the law :p (the sock might fall off)

I'd be a little worried about perverts too (either riding or watching) I mean...ew

I've seen riders hit something with the front tyre then sort of shot forward on the bike frame. Now that'd be funny...

I agree. As Christians we are here to glorify God and sanctify our fellow man. This does the opposite.

Well, only 13 sleeps till this event and I must say that I'm really excited about it to say the least!!

I've been overwhelmed by the amount of media interest I've had in it ranging from the drive-time guys at Triple J and ZZZ radio to the adult-orientated talkback show on 4BC and Richard Fidler from ABC Brisbane (whose show I was previously on in 2005) do a commentary on it.

Believe it or not, the whole letters to the Editor in this week's Westside News has been dedicated to the event with half the writers voicing their approval and the other half voicing their disapproval. The best letter came from a mum who saw the article and watched her two-year-old son go in the garden, take off

So far I've got two professional photographers covering the event as well as two model friends of mine participating as well as a well-known Brisbane Christian social activist also taking part.

Curiously, I have not had any feedback from any Christian radio stations like 96.5 fm or 1296 AM about it, although I wouldn't say 'no' to them if they invited me to talk about it.

I've had one grouchy old cretinous cow have the gall to ring me at my private home number to voice her disgust, but I just hung up on her instead of telling her what she could do with a member of the canine species. :yum:

I frankly don't understand why a number of people are so afraid of nakedness, especially modern-day Christians. It's just skin, and the way that God creates us. I don't buy into any belief system that teaches being naked is sinful or shameful, it is all rubbish.

People who teach this play into the hands of the devil and give him, not God, what he wants.

surely there must be a better way to get attention? and remember you ARE on a CHRISTIAN forum, don't even think about being anybody in favour. a very sad day for you, i think.
why not ride your bikes getting dressed up, maybe a gorilla suit would get attention.
you know this is even against the 7 deadly sins of the r.k. church, so don't accept approval here.
try to think about it more,
norbie

Wow you are some example of Jesus's heart aren't you.... I don't think anyone is "affraid" of nakedness but many people abuse nudeness and therefore we have Playboy and other horrific magazines. Maybe you should think before you post
