Well I've heard of a lot of situations, but it revolves around a few themes

Man working from home (computer work or the like)
Woman working from home (part time or otherwise)
Man staying home, no job, woman works to make money
Woman staying home, no job, man works to make money
Man works nights, woman works days
Woman works nights, man works days
Man works part time, woman works full time (only part time day care or even better-- a nanny or grandparent watches them)
Woman works part time, man works full time
Both work part time and have some kind of special insurance situation

If you really believe in what you are doing, you'd be surprised what you can come up with... more than this, I'm sure.

Judy02, just thought I better point out that the curses thing I mentioned was the way a friend at university saw it, not how my wife and I do necessarily. I posted it as it is an interesting perspective. In saying that, the virtuous wife of Proverbs 31 certainly does seem to portray a different picture. The wife described does have financial resources, but that is not to say that someone without financial resources could not also diversify their work like that. Someone without financial resources may have more motivation to do so!

My wife and I do live in a traditional SAHW situation, as that works for us. But I would never want to impose that on anyone else, or say that is the only biblical way to live.

Oh no, its ok, sorry I wasn't having a go at you, or saying a traditional structure was always wrong. I was just generalising against some people who put people in boxes saying its a sin for any woman to have a career, or for any father to stay at home. I think each individual situation should be decided between the couple, I don't really think its anyone elses business to decide for them. Sorry if you felt I was having a go at you, It wasn't my intention :)
I've come across some very sexist christians in the past, who I've felt really put me down, on the sole basis that I'm female so I get quite debatable sometimes, and read up on the bible and gender quite a lot. xxx
