Bradford, it's not a spoiler if it's so abbreviated that it's unintelligble to people like me who aren't inside your head! :D Oh well...thought I was going to get a break. I like to know what's going to happen. I'm odd that way. You should see me at Christmas time. I do not do well with curiousity. :sigh: now you know.

Guess this means I'll have to wait!...grumble, grumble, grumble. :D

Oh man, Colin and Christy are WAAAYYY ahead of the pack! I'm guessing about 7 hours. They have to be the heavy favorites!

Way to go Chip for helping out Brandon like that. To bad you helped the twins. Thats where you crossed the line. They would still be wondering around the desert if you hadn't helped them. Plus you may have just killed the bowling moms. ;(

Mirna, what can I say. Have you completed a challange yet? And then you yell at Charla to run faster, in the sand? Ugh!

Was anyone else shocked at the 'last to arrive' penalty? That seems a bit rough.

Until next week....

Good episode last night, but not as good as the previous leg.

Charla & Mirna: Not as obnoxious last night, but I'm still not too keen on them. They were smart to not settle for that 3:15 flight, which I could smack the other teams for. I got the feeling that Mirna didn't want to do the Roadblock because she might get dirty. Yay for Charla though.

Colin & Christie: Smart. Very smart. I wouldn't put too much stock in them getting too far ahead, the teams usually get bunched up at airports or due to hours of operation at detours. Funny part:
Colin: Jesus is the prodigal son.
Christie: There are a million Jesuses here!

Linda and Karen: What? No money to start the next leg? I can understand the penalty for last place, but it's just sadistic to not give them any to start. Now they'll have to beg. Which should be interesting in the country they're in.

Kami & Karli: These guys really should not be in this race. They are dumber than a box of rocks if you ask me. They weren't sure why they put puzzle pieces in the bag? Have they ever watched ANY reality TV, let alone this show? They were just lucky that Chip wanted to make amends for before (not that he had anything to make amends for).

Chip & Kim: Pretty good. I loved that they were so in awe of being in Egypt. That's what the race is about - doing things and going places you'd never dream of. Though Chip has to stop being nice. He made his point - move on and race now.

Brandon & Nicole: Smoochypants? Ug, a little too sickeningly sweet with the I wuv you's, but I still like them.

Marshall & Lance: "The Russian people are the most miserable people on the planet." Maybe they were miserable because they had to share a train with you guys. Marshall's knees do not bode well for them for the future. Either they or the Twinkies are Philiminated next.

I've been doing some drink..er.. thinking and I'm going to retract my criticism of Brandon for not taking the shot. Honestly, the more I think about it, his decision was probably for the best, not just for religious reasons, but for the fact that neither her nor Nichole are drinkers.

I drink beer every day, but even I don't like hard liquor and vodka is one of the hardest out there. I'd be willing to bet that Nichole has imbibed perviously, but Brandon seems like he's never even smelled, much less tasted a distilled beverage. Since part of the mission was being able to take the shot while balancing it on the sabre, I doubt a choking, sputtering attempt to swill a vodka shot off a sword would have worked.

Regarding a private communication that Wisdom Seeker and I had: I probably should have used the word "harsh" rather than "hard." I'll bet good money that I could find a beer a life-long tea-totaler could sip with enjoyment while spewing a shot of vodka at the first taste.

I maintain that Brandon, being a model, and choking on his first 4-6 attempts would mess up his face on the sabre and so he made - IMO - the proper decision.

Getting back to Russia, the other night I posted an alternate Detour set of tasks to another website. It's like Television Without Pity, but with less Pity, thus the morbidity. I think you, and others will still find it funny.

About last nights show...

Brandon - "I'm afriad of crevaces." A more telling True Love Waits comment was never made.

Mirna and Charla - Charla, I love you more and more honey. The fact that you're willing to do tasks that your cowardly cousin Mirna won't esteems you in my estimation a hundredfold - despite your "small lady need doctoro" subterfuge.

Kim, Chip, Mirna and Charla - good for you for enjoying the travel aspects of the show. Mirna and Char have been more vocal about appreciating the places and sites they've seen, but Chip especially expressed his appreciation for the visits to the Hermitage and Giza.

Colin and Christie kicking everyone elses butts - I'm sure Bertram van Munster will program something into the Race to create a log jam and not allow one team to be three days ahead come the last few episodes, but I do like seeing one team amassing a huge lead out of curiousity as to how they would handle that.

The twin admitting she's clueless - I like seeing the participants stating the obvious, but please use better lighting when they do so.

I really do love this show. And without further adieu, "The Russia Detour that never happened."

Colin and Christie approach a clue box.

DETOUR

Phil voices over. A Detour is a choice between two tasks each having a pro and con. Teams must now decide between Rasputin and Tsar Nicholas II.

In Rasputin, teams drive 5 miles to downtown St. Petersburg where they must find members of the Russian Royal family and complete the following series of tasks - eat a cake containing ground glass and drink wine containing arsenic. The team must then wait 3 hours before being shot and beaten. A further 3 hours must pass before the teams can be tied up and taken to the Neva river where they will be thrown in to drown. Only after all signs of life have disappeared may they get their next clue. The task is close, but will take at least 6 hours.

In Tsar Nicholas II, teams catch a Soviet era Hind-24 helicopter 1000 miles to Ekaterinburg where they must find a group of historical re-enactors dressed in period Red Army costumes and armed with vintage Mosin-Nagant rifles. The team must then face a firing squad after which they may recieve their next clue. The task can be completed quickly, but the helicopters must refuel both going to and coming from Ekaterinburg.

Christie asks what arsenic is while Colin asserts they should face the firing squad cut to commercial...

Not to mention the amount of time that is going to be lost begging! It doesn't look good for them. :(

Okay, this is the first reality show that I like and now watch. Love it!

I like Charla, but Mirna irritates me. If I was Charla, I'd bite her knee caps.

Colin & Christie--They've got to go. I cannot stand them. Colin makes my skin crawl.

It's a toss up who I'd like to see win--Charla & Mirna or Brandon & Nicole. Kim & Chip are growing on me.

And they took the Fast Forward! Now I ask you, doesn't it make more sense to take a fast forward when you really need it? I mean, they were already way ahead.

And Bradford, now I understand what your spoiler meant. :D

I don't know how my favorites, the Bowling Moms from my home town are going to do next episode without any money. Well, I'm crossing my fingers for them in hopes they will prevail despite this kink in the road.

And USCog...you don't have to mention me by name when I speak to you in private. Do you not know the meaning of being discreet? Good grief! ;)

But this season there are only 2 FFs. So the rules are a bit changed - if I were in their position I would have done the same thing. It was "most advantageous to go for it."

I'm still rooting for Mirna and Charla, but I'm really disappointed with Mirna. She makes Charla do all the dirty work and I find it amazing that Charla's been so tolerant. After the road block, Mirna said she felt horrible making Charla go into the shaft; dang straight she should! She needs to do some of the work herself and not have to worry about her nails or whatever. Cudos to Charla; she's got the most to prove and she's done more than her share. She's a perfect role-model.

Colin and Christie may now have a tremendous lead, but one necessary airport wait and the others will catch up. They've proven that they can compete well, but I thought it was a big blunder of them to use the fast foward when it was assurred they would have been first anyway. If they screw up later, they'll be sorry for it, but for what they got now, they have pretty smooth sailing ahead of them.

I like Linda and Karen. I hoped that they would beet the Twins, but it's good to know that they weren't eliminated. They've now got a huge money problem, but I have a strong suspicion that they'll pull through. By the way, didn't anyone else realize that this wasn't going to be an elimination round? The way the letter was stated, with "may" instead of the usual "will," was the kicker. Glad to see that they'll be in for another round.

Kami and Karli are indeed rather dumb and (take no offense anyone, as I'm one too) blonde. I mean come on people; they give you a map with a perfect outline of the size of the puzzel and you can't figure out what it is about? Good grief... They got lucky because of the kindness of Chip and Kim, and they deserve to be in the situation where the Bowling Moms are in now.

Chip and Kim are another of my favorites. Chip's got a really good ethical side, which is something I really admire of him, although Kim's right when she says that Chip needs to begin to be more aggressive. I do believe they got a good shot of being first again, if not in the next leg.

Brandon and Nicole are, to be honest, horrible. Brandon's nothing more than an egotistical jerk and Nicole is too, well, bossy. I've got a good feeling they won't be around for much longer. As for their "Christian" status, Chip and Kim and Charla have a better Christian morals and behaviors than these two bozos do, IMO.

Marshall and Lance are total you-know-whats. I despise them. They are rude, crude, and they treat Charla like she's a worthless sack of garbage. I admit it; I have nothing nice to say about them, so the sooner they are eliminated, the better. And good riddance, IMO.

In regard to your disdain about Mirna and Charla; if you've read any of my previous posts you'll see that I don't really like this team very much either. But, as someone who is also clausterphobic (like Mirna said she was) I can understand how going into a shaft in a pyrimid would not be possible.

Sure she feels bad about not being able to do the challenge herself. I feel bad that my phobias inhibit my being able to do everything like everyone else too. But that doesn't mean that I have any control over it. Dispite anyones opinion about that, unless you've dealt with it personally, you really have no idea how awful it really is.

The problem with Mirna is that she didn't eat the candy, she didn't eat the caviar, she didn't go in the hole. The only thing she did was get the scarf from the calf because Charla wasn't fast enough (her words). Seems to me that Charla is carrying the team. It will be interesting to see if she completes any future roadblocks.

I just absolutely loved this week's episode! :pink: Too bad for the bowling moms though, but I agree, the ones who come in last and don't get eliminated should have some kind of disadvantage or penalty. I can't wait for next week's episode! Charla & Mirna and hanging in there, I love that team, next is Chip & Kim then Brandon & Nicole.
