Oh my gosh, yes! It's worse in person, but it happens to me on the phone all the time.

It's also rather awkward when you are the one catching another eating your food. I remember one time when I was a kid I had my popcorn sitting on a table where we were at a public place. I walked out for a second and when I came back a kid was in the middle of taking a handful out of my bag of popcorn and shoving it in his mouth when he saw me. He stared awkwardly at me and I stared awkwardly back, neither of us said anything and then he walked off. lol

Oh yes! This is so awkward!! What's even more awkward is when you act like you knew what the person said, and then they go on to ask you "So....what are your thoughts on that?" Um....

The only thing you can say: "I think you make some good points really, not a whole lot I can add honestly. Oh! Before I forget...." and then segue to lunch or something...
