That Awkward Moment Thread

Awkward moments? I've had plenty of them.

-That awkward moment when everyone has to find someone to work with for an assignment in school, and you have no friends there.

-That awkward moment when you can't decide whether to say/post something or not and decide to go ahead and do it, then there's an awkward silence for a few minutes.

-That awkward moment when you didn't understand what someone said to you but you're too shy to ask them to repeat it.

-That awkward moment when you wave at someone thinking they're waving to you, and they actually weren't waving.

-That awkward moment when you're playing a game and you raise your arms to catch the ball, when it was actually thrown to someone else.

-That awkward moment when someone shares their art and other people compliment it and get a thank you and a nice reply; but when you compliment it the person who shared the art suddenly stops replying...TWICE.

-That awkward moment when you call a friend on the phone and she just starts shouting at someone in the background and says something like, "I can't talk right now."

-That awkward moment when you call a friend on the phone and she answers and you think it's her mom that answered!

...That was a lot.

Few minutes later, your mom gets your crush's phone number, and invites them to Thanksgiving in two days, and the crush seems super into coming!..... Then your crush mentions their boyfriend...... Then they wanna know why you're still single, give you crap about being old, and saying how bad you need a girlfriend...... The king ladies and gents. Bow down to the king!

Man, if all this really happened, then, wow, you are in fact the king in this awkward moments thread, and you have my sympathies. I am glad you apparently exhibited more patience with your mother for asking demeaning and intrusive questions like that, though, than I would have with my own family.

I don't know; even just the term itself just makes the whole situation naturally seem childish .... "write up". It just makes me automatically think, what is this, elementary school?

That awkward moment [last night]

Awakening from a deep slumber sleep in the middle of the night

To my horror, something seemed immediately wrong with my left arm, there was no sensation or feeling in my left hand. It felt like it was non existent and there was something 'stuck' on the end of the limb. In horror awakening from sleep in this stage, I began immediately trying to shake my arm to get it off, then I grabbed it with my right hand, it felt like flesh. I almost began to call for help and switched on my lamp in panic....

To realise it was actually my left hand. I must have slept on it for a long time to a point where it went 100% numb and there was no feeling in it at all. It took a while through movement before it became right and the blood flowing through it again.

Such a horrible situation to come out of a sleep while confused into!

And that is precisely why I leave my shirt untucked. To keep me from embarrassment and/or rudely (however inadvertantly) showing the general public something i am pretty darn sure they would rather not see.
Because it will be covered by the shirt tail.

And that is precisely why I refuse to tuck my shirt in. Shirt tail out, and no one can know, just in case I was absent-minded and neglectful in getting dressed before leaving to go out in public. Everyone wins this way in my opinion.

That awkward moment when you call the hospital to get a schedule for your first day of therapy and as you talk to the hospital worker on the phone, your mind completely blanks out and you're stuttering trying to find what you're trying to say. The person on the phone then automatically (but accurately) directs you to mental health services.

Oh my gosh, I hate when that happens. Its the worst when im in a fight and I say something like "you're not listening" or "you're missing the point here" then when asked to say what that is I completely forget what I was going to say happens far too frequently.

My mind just goes blank sometimes under pressure...
