  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Thanksgiving.

I'm thankful to God that Shield didn't wish pain and suffering on people in a thread for a change and merely only commanded us to write what he wants us to write in this thread rather than the usual commands that people will be forced to obey and whatever the latest rants are which I have blissfully missed for a few days as not been around.

Sorry shield, sick of it.

Had to vent.

Try fried turkey if you haven't. I had some today, it's great.

Well I've had that before and it was okay but I think it was mainly due to the chipotle flavor injection the cook put in before tossing it in the deep fat fryer. I still didn't think it was so great. Last thanksgiving I wasn't able to get back home to Alaska so it was just me and my sister. She doesn't like thanksgiving dinner much anyway (except for green bean casserole). So we made homemade pizza, served with beer and for dessert: Bailey's Mint Irish Creme Liqueur (which I loath but I humored her by having some), and watched a back log of Veronica Mars episodes on the DVR. And we gave thanks that we live in a country where not everyone has to eat the same bland meal on the same day if they don't want to. :p

Dear ShieldOfFaith. Thank you for this thread of Thanksgiving. I too thank God for all I have and all I am, that includes my health and strenght to work for myself and loved ones, for the doctors who help, and all who work towards our daily bread. God makes it possible, and we are the hands and hearts, who help to feed ourselves and many of our starving brothers and sisters. And thank you Lord most of all for your blessings, they make all the difference. I say this humbly and gratefully, ShieldOfFaith. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

Thank you Our Mother and Father for all your blessings. For friends and family, for food and drink, and all of the freedoms I enjoy in this country. I thank you for a wonderful meal and gathering with my family and friends where we shared our love for one another and the bountiful table. I thank you for blessed Mother Earth and for all of creation. I thank you for time to rest and play as well as times that I need to work. May I always seek to help & uplift the oppressed, the sick, and the needy and share my blessings, gifts, and anything else with others and may I try to live as you have taught me--in perfect love and perfect trust and in peace with all of your creatures. So mote it be, Le-Olahm, Amen.

Thanks for the thread, SOF.

I had Greek for thanksgiving.

Mmm, lamb.

Now lamb is delicious. We never ate it when I was growing up because my dad found it disgusting. I don't know why. I think because no matter how long you cook it there's usually some pink left in the meat. But then again he'll eat steak that's only been on the grill long enough to brown the outside whilst I request that the chef "burn it to the core".

I didn't have lamb until I was a teenager. An English family moved to my hometown and started going to my church. They found it shocking that nobody in Alaska served lamb for dinner. Maybe lamb is more of a European thing.
