  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I've usually gotten mine at the campus bookstore, because I used my financial aid to get them... However, I have gotten books from friends who have previously taken the class.

This year I'm looking at getting them online. But am having problems finding some of them... Any suggestions as to what websites have textbooks for a decent price?

Most of my textbooks are large hardcover science books, so those are all significantly cheaper on amazon (by about half). However, for small books for humanities courses, the price isn't very different for the bookstore. Last semester I bought some international edition paperback books online (I forget where). They were extremely inexpensive, but I've decided not to do that anymore since the reason they sell books so cheaply is so students in much poorer countries can afford them, and if people like me are buying them I suspect those prices will start to go up.

I've gotten them online, from the campus bookstore, from a friend who previously took the class, and from the section in my library that sells books (I once found my text book for $1.00). Also once my friend who had money and didn't want to share her text book with me because it was hard, bought me my own copy.

I have also searched in the college library catalog and local libraries to see if they had the text books. Many times that worked for when I needed to read the books, I'd just check them out or go to the library that had the book and read it there.

Try Amazon. That is where I get most of mine. Either that, or I look them up at Chapters (a chain bookstore that I don't know if you have in America) and get them there. I bought two of my Children's Literature textbooks there for about the same price as Amazon.
