It's interesting that I just had to use the one from Matt. 7 in another discussion.

What you sometimes see the critics do is to take one verse(s) about false prophets and apply it to Ellen White without realizing there's a whole set that one has to pay attention to.

I'm sure there are more - I would have to look into it.

I'd use my Bibleworks 7.0 program but it (like the web) only knows how to look for specific words, phrases or words in proximity to each other. They have not yet learned how to look for concepts.

There are many tests for Prophets that is given us, here is a list from one of the sermons...



1) A true prophet's message will be in complete harmony with the word of God and the law of God.
To the law and to the testimony! If they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. Isaiah 8:20

2) A true prophet's predictions must come to pass.
As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, the prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent. Jeremiah 28:9

3) A true prophet prophesies to edify the church, counseling and advising in religious matters.
But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification and exhortation, and comfort, ... but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. 1 Corinthians 14:3,4

4) A true prophet will exalt Christ as the Son of God and the Saviour of mankind.
No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us.... Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 1 John 4:12,15

5) The true prophet will speak with authority:
...for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matthew 7:29

6) The true prophet will bear good fruit.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Matthew 7:20

7)The true prophet, when in vision, will exhibit physical signs:
The utterance of him who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, who falls down, with eyes wide open. Numbers 24:4

Ellen White passes these tests so the message she brings cannot be from evil but clearly from the divine..
