  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My family and I had and am expriencing some major spiritual attacks from people coming against us, and at some point I told God I would testified about it because eventhough we had experience so many things he did not allow the enemy to destroy us. The theme of the service went with my testimony so I thought I would testify that week. I did go to God in a short prayer to asked him if it were okay to testify and I thought I felt a push in my spirit to do so eventhough I wanted to wait until there were a finality in the situation. I thought showing faith to testify of God's goodness even before he brings absolute victory.

Usually its hard for me to testify or talk in public and I am more comfortable testifying of God's goodness through music and songs so I rarely talk and testify in front of people. I knew the testimony was long because the situation was complex and happened in a long period of time so I went up and was testifying about the attacks of the enemy. I kind of lost track of time trying to explain what I had experience, but I felt like I needed to say some things; it was my first time really. Next thing I knew the mic person kept opening and closing the mic while I was up there. My mother and her friend kept doing signals for me to stop, but I wanted to say a few things that I felt were important. Then my mother stood up and embarrassed in front on the congregation by doing the whole zip it gesture. I try to wrap it up after which I eventually did.

Then the lady who was visiting the church with the group said she wanted to pray for me and was saying things which had me confused. The attacks were coming from an aunt and her husband with the source from the husband's mother, but the woman was talking as though it was coming from family curse. It seemed like she didn't quite understand my testimony. She told me to put my hands up while she was praying and I have this tremble issue since young and would even tremble when I am not in social situations. While up there I was rubbing my thumb to try to keep my hand from trembling and she asked me what am I doing? I said I was nervous, and she took it as something from the enemy. It went down hill from then on. After my testimony I felt very confused about how things turned out. The sad thing is I sort of have a public phobia and it was hard for me to testify, but now I have this regret on whether I should have done that.

May be I lack wisdom and should not have shared as much, but I did pray for God to help speak what he wanted me to. Now its going to be harder for me to testify because of how my mom, and others were disrepectful towards me when I was up there. I took longer than I should, but I didn't feel that they should have acted disrepectful like this. Also there had been people in the past who took a long time to testify and they were not met with this type of embarrassed. Right now I am a bit confused and embarrassing by this whole situation. I just find it almost humerous that I finally had the guts to go in front of people and testify and to have this blow in my face somehow.

:hug::hug:I am sorry this has happend Missy. It sounds like a confusing situation and perhaps getting up in front of everyone was not the way to go. Usually talking things over with a pastor or sister in the Lord that you respect and trust is better. I often do not hear clearly form the HS what I am to do and make mistakes. It is not the end of the world though so don't beat yourself up about it. Try to forgive those who embarassed you ask God to give you greater understanding of your situation and move on. The woman who shared about a family curse may have been trying to deal with strongholds that some say can come on a Christian because of generational sin. I know that sometimes we struggle in similar areas to our relatives alive or dead so maybe she felt that was a root cause of your stuggle. The bible says we do not fight against people (flesh and blood) but agains prinicipalities powers and wickedness in high places. Our battle is in the spirit realm according to Ephesians 6: 10-24 Ephesians 6 (Blue Letter Bible: KJV - King James Version)

Hang in there God does promise to give us wisdom when we ask in faith and victory over all the power of the enemy strongholds..

Luk 10:19Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

It's ok. Maybe you got it wrong, maybe you didn't. Doesn't really matter if your motives were right. You showed courage and no one got hurt. God will turn it all to good. Even the dose of public humiliation. Put it in His hands and leave it there.

What you said may have helped someone there that would never say anything about it. I am one of those people that probably wouldn't say much, and someone timid or shy may especially not say anything after the way people reacted.

I have a feeling the Lord has more to show you over time regarding the peoples' reactions - just a hunch, nothing more.

I wish there was a like button here like there is on facebook. There would definitely be a "Usindiamo likes this" icon:)

These "Spiritual attacks" are most likely your wilderness
Luke 4
Notice the patter How Jesus goes through the wilderness to capernaum in the fulness of his ministry.
Your going to go through the wilderness through the good place to the place of testing to your place of Victory
And the cycle will start over all throughout your life
Its not the DEVIL TRYING TO TAKE YOU OUT
It is God's refining process to bring the Gold out of your life
-The more you know

Definitely. God doesn't care how long you took -- the criticism just came from people trying to keep the service in order. God is timeless. We are obsessively linear.

It was embarrassing, but I don't think others noticed how incredibly embarrassing it felt. If they were more comfortable being up there, they wouldn't notice how they'd offend you.

When the woman mentioned generational curses, she wouldn't have been implying anything was your fault (ideally!) but was attempting to free you from a parasitical force that imposed itself in your life. BUT you always have the freedom to walk away and say no thanks.

Everyone has a different perception of what effective ministry and caring is. It is as bad as going to a funeral and trying to say the right thing. We just do our best, and ask God to cover for our weaknesses.

I think you did everything fine. But if you don't feel comfortable sharing personal information, then you don't need to. Your church happens to do public testimonies, but ours only does it at Thanksgiving, New Year's, and Baptisms. And special times like after surgeries.

I laugh when you say the woman misunderstood your testimony. The last time I gave a public statement like that, a stranger came up to me and asked if I would be her day care provider because I was a single mother without a job. But I was not single, not without a job, and she had no reason to trust me with her kids. I had no idea how she concluded these things.

Well, chalk it up to free public speaking experience. (-;
