The article claims that Elon Musk will move to making vehicles powered by
hydrogen fuel cells, and leave the electric cars behind.

My comment is that although electric seemed a good move, as far as pollution goes,
electric vehicles are far too heavy, and lithium based batteries have all sorts of
supply problems.

Flyers of model planes could have told Elon this, if he had been willing to listen
to them.

He could work with the heavy transport industry and government to speed up the development of infrastructure. Hydrogen is suitable for heavy transport and buses, and they produce a lot of green house gases.

Although trucks and buses represent only around 8% of vehicles, they are responsible for over a third of direct CO₂ emissions from road transport, and their emissions are still rising.

I'm good with all the tech and maybe we'll choose the most efficient source. EVs are resource-intensive and inconvenient for travelers. I would love to see a miniature reactor, and then we could have flying Ubers.

Yeah ... there are just too many problems involved with electric powered.

Here's an interesting article about using waste-to-hydorgen

It's common to see Tesla electric vehicles around here now. Ive said before that I'm hoping that if we can still afford it (getting on in age and retired) that sufficient infrastructure will be in place for our next car (down the track) to be hydrogen fuelled.

They way I see it for the state of Queensland, the SE corner of the state has the bulk of the population and the Bruce Highway from Brisbane to Cairns carries most of the state's regional heavy transport, so they'd be the two areas to concentrate on first. The rest could be phased in later.

Hydrogen fuel cells for vehicles is an idea that has been around for years. Hopefully, this alternate form of energy becomes developed to a point where it becomes available and affordable to the average person.
