For the time being the teens forums will be closed at the very least for the next 3 weeks.

We advise everyone to continue to post within the rules. Show that during a rough patch you as individuals and collectivley will post within the rules.

Just like in real life a few rotten apples can spoil the whole barrel. I hope that some people have had their eyes open to the true colors of their friends. It saddens me that this has played out this way because it didn't have to. However we will still move forward and upward. Some scripture to reflect on Romans 8:28.

Recovery from this is going to take a long time...

And there's blame to pass for this aaaall the way around. Seems like the perfect time to exercise grace (especially from older mentors) but even though we have all received the utmost amount of grace from our Maker, we apparently don't feel obligated to dole it out to each other. Some scripture to reflect on: Matthew 18:21-22.

Backhanded flames are not the way to keep this thread open and if the thread were to derail it could cause the reopening of the forum to be delayed.

I would never want to flame anyone because I like to show as much respect as possible to those around me. I guess I just appreciate it when it is reciprocated. But no more flaming from me and apologies if anything I posted previously seemed to be flame-y. But if any site advisors would like to hear my thoughts about how to maybe help resolve this issue a bit more (because it's nowhere near resolved even though the forum is closed) I can shoot you a PM that I sent to arborvita (and it's nice too, I promise!).

At the risk of being put into the corner for talking back I want to ask, why was the teens forum changed without consulting them first? Also, since half of the teens are banned along with their mods, how is it ever going to reopen?

Since I am not an advisor, all my answers are pretty much un-official. So here we go! I've been a member for 4 years and i've been a staff for about 6 months total. Things that the advisors do, in my opinion are for the greatest good. Just because a specificed member group is being effected doesn't mean that they will always consult them. Opinions are gathered from various people before making decisions to close a forum, etc. They haven't said it is closed indefinetly, just for 3 weeks. So if we wait it out, things will (hopefully) shape up.

I'm not going to answer the second question because it seems a tad flammy to me.

Closing the thread till I get back or until another person can take over.

Just a note from some one with no stake in this. As an outsider in what ever muck got stirred up by whoever, I'm seeing:

1. A very general announcement that a forum is closed
2. a reply stating that there is blame to go around for troubles arising and a call for everyone to try and forgive one another and go forward
3. Threats from an admin that "backhanded flames" could result in this thread being locked.
4. someone pointing out that threats won't help
5. another bible quote about forgivenes
6. admin sayig they want to keep it civil followed by what amounts to a "like it or leave" comment
7. a general warning from another admin
8. a mod signing on to the previous statement
9. poster calling for forgiveness stating that no flames were meant. Offering to help resolve situation.
10. post from admin that seems to indicate thread was/will be locked.

Now, i don't know if posts were moved or deleted that change the flow of this, but as an outside observer Im only seeing hostility from the mods here. I've yet to see anything that could be construed as a flame here. The staff might want to reread what they wrote and maybe rephrase so it doesn't seem so hostile r is at least clearer on what they don't want because as it stands right now, it looks bad.

Once again, I really don't know anything about the lead up to this and have no stake in it. I'm just letting you know how things look to someone on the outside.

Fair questions for sure. I think the answer to the second one is that it will re-open in 3 weeks but it's going to take a looong time before it will ever be what it once was unless there's some compromise, forgiveness, and grace from both sides.

hmmm......

well I was like on the forum a few hours before it closed... and I feel completely left in the dark.

when I asked about this in member assistance i was redirected here. and now i am left with more questions than i originally had.....

i think it's fair to ask for a fuller explanation considering CFT was one of the 'busier' boards here and there are probably more people affected who WEREN'T involved with whatever happened than people who WERE involved with whatever happened.
