games such as Doom 2+3 ( which is filled with blatant satanic images )

BTW, I just noticed this part.

I used to play Doom all the time when I was a younger (well, 1 and 2, 3 kind of ruined the series with too many cheap jump scares and monster closets, but I digress).

Yes, they are full of "blatant Satanic images". You know why?

Because in those games, Satan, Hell, and demons are the bad guys! And you play the good guy, fighting against them!

That's a good question. Is the problem that we're attempting to use good to conquer evil? Defeating satan's army?

I'm starting to think the people trying to stop these games are trying to stop our desire to defeat evil.

You cannot justify the violence in games like Doom.

Blood, guts and gore.

Your mind gets desensitized.

You cannot fight evil with evil. Where does it say in the bible that we must use man made weapons to fight against the "principalities and powers" ?

Only God and the bible can help us.

People who have played these games inevitably have to get christian counselling and deliverance.

Performing exorcisms is just one subset of the christian life. It should not consume all of our time, otherwise, you will get too familiar with demons and end up like King Solomon, who was influenced by the false gods that his concubines worshippped.

It is actually very difficult to make a fun christian game, especially if your audience is people who have played secular games.

In fact they must create special medicine to change the pathways in the brain that have been affected by secular games.

The stimulation needed to get the same level of gratification from religious games is different.

When they can identify those parts of the brain that affect memory and the subconscious, then they can treat such people.

In fact they need to bring lawsuits against companies like Sony and Microsoft for emotional damage caused by the games.

lumosity.com is an example of games which are beneficial.

Making these games in 3D would enhance the experience.

Remember we are fighting a war against the anti-Christ. We need to identify all of his devices and warn others.

I've played Doom in my childhood and play games such as Modern Warfare nowadays and I've racked up hundreds, if not thousands of kills. To say that I am now de-sensitised to blood and guts is ridiculous.

I am able (like most normal people) to seperate fantasy from reality. Wanted to gun someone down in a game in no way reflects any facet of my normal mind.

I would think Christian oriented games would be fairly easy to make.

For example, you have games like SimCity, where you build a city balancing resources, transportation, population, etc.

You could build an ark, you have to cut down trees, build enclosures, make it x cubits by y cubits, etc. Then you would load animals and supplies, making sure carnivores aren't next to herbivores, rebuilding enclosures if the animals won't fit, etc. Then you could handle being in the ocean, having to clean, feed, water, protect the animals, sending out birds to see if they find land, then navigating to get there and release all the animals.

You could make a game like a "zombie infection" type game, instead its spreading Christianity, and having to handle governments, competing religions, occasional miracles, whatever.

To Cearbhall :

Maybe God is calling you to repentance ? You never know. You would certainly find knowledgable christians on this forum who can answer your questions about God.
I see that amused incredulity doesn't go over well in text.

And I really wish I could figure out a way to put my personal background in my signature without seeming like a jerk.

You would think, and it has been tried. But most are commercial failers, because of bad quality, bad gameplay, and/or it tries to hard to spread the message. I don't know one that would be consitered a success in the video game world, though a few might be seen as a success by some Christians. Heck, getting a game with your message on the shelves is a success by some peoples mesures.

I have gotten better 'advice' from sci-fi book than the Bible. And I know those where fiction.

Most games are ment for fun, not to spread a message. But if you only see the world in a Bible oriented way I can see why you think there is no reason for them.

I know the violence in the games are make believe, but it does make a great way to let off steam safely. Or to experance the horrors of war so you will never want to be in one. Or find out how hard building a city/ country/civilization really is. There is value there, it is not just blood guts and gore.

A previous post mentioned luminosity.com, so you could do the same concept of mental exercises disguised as games, and do the same thing with a Christian bend.

You could have a Missile Command type game where you blow up S&G and turn people to salt. You could have tower defense game where you have to navigate through Egypt to part the red sea and you're trying to get as many survivors to the ocean.

I'm not saying these are multi-million dollar ideas, I'm saying you COULD create them.

To go along with the poster, the goal is to not let the faithful play Call of Duty or WoW or whatever. I'm sure some church coffers could be opened to pay for the development costs.

Let's be fair:
Psalm 137:9
"Happy is the one who seizes your infants and dashes them against the rocks."

Well, what people do outside of the church should not concern him. It is fine to have these options, but he can't expect people to cut themselves off from the world entirely. When there are games that beat the pants off of what is out there for Christians, people are going to play them. You may get a few that play the Christian only games, but you can't expect to force everyone to do so.

You would end up with an empty Church.

Why you got to bring Auschwitz into this?

I don't think he is.
I Believe he's referring to this --> Aborted, miscarried babies burned to heat U.K. hospitals: report - Washington Times

That was already banned
The Department of Health on Sunday issued an instant ban after 10 National Health Service trusts admitted to burning fetal remains alongside garbage and two others used the remains in “waste-to-energy” programs, the U.K. Telegraph reported.

Nope. I can tell the difference between fantasy violence and real violence. The fact that I support stricter gun control laws should be evidence of that.

You cannot fight evil with evil. Where does it say in the bible that we must use man made weapons to fight against the "principalities and powers" ?

People in the Bible used man-made weapons to fight all the time. There are entire books of the Bible almost entirely consisting of that.

Only God and the bible can help us.

Ultimately, yes, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't defend ourselves against aggression.

People who have played these games inevitably have to get christian counselling and deliverance.

I've been a Christian all my life. Video games are just a hobby.

Performing exorcisms is just one subset of the christian life. It should not consume all of our time, otherwise, you will get too familiar with demons and end up like King Solomon, who was influenced by the false gods that his concubines worshippped.

If I actually needed an exorcism, I'd leave it to a professional.

It is actually very difficult to make a fun christian game, especially if your audience is people who have played secular games.

In fact they must create special medicine to change the pathways in the brain that have been affected by secular games.

Citation seriously needed.

In fact they need to bring lawsuits against companies like Sony and Microsoft for emotional damage caused by the games.

If people are "emotionally damaged" by a video game, they were probably very emotionally fragile to begin with.

Remember we are fighting a war against the anti-Christ. We need to identify all of his devices and warn others.

How do you know you're not getting false positives and missing the "devices" that are right under your nose?
