  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hello
I am a developer, who is majoring in Computer Science as well as a devout Christian going to Biola University. How can I impact the world about Jesus Christ through technology? What apps can I develop?

I prefer security-related apps. Anything to improve the safety of people out in the streets against criminals/terrorists.

Religion is everywhere but security isn't.

I think if we want to impact the world as Christians then we should in things people can see and understand and is actually very useful.

Christian Rim, a very warm welcome to CF!!

I went to Biola University/Talbot School of Theology for 3 semesters....from January 2013 to May 2014.

It's a pleasure to meet a fellow Biolan.

In my opinion, you engage in online ministry here on CF, and tell Christian seekers, agnostics and atheists that Jesus Christ loves them more than they can ever imagine.

As for your specific question, I strongly believe that smartphone users need more apps that are geared toward Christian seekers and atheists.

You can develop apps where people can ask specific questions about Jesus, Christianity and the inerrant Scriptures (the Holy Bible).

Anything that can help reach people in countries where Christianity is illegal. I read recently about a man in Afghanistan who converted after hearing a sermon on the radio. Radio is so outdated to me but his testimony really woke me up. There are so many persecuted Christians and so many that have never heard the good news of Lord Jesus Christ.
I wonder if there is a way for Christians in safe countries to help their brothers and sisters in other lands. I don't know how! We have so many resources in our safe lands and others are so lacking. To spread the good news and Bibles and share information of safe places and people that can help the persecuted, just like the early Christians did when they were persecuted.

How about an app where people can make their own Bible devotionals? YouVersion is great, but it's a bit exclusive in their choice of devotionals.

Just a thought! :)

I recently came across the EndlessOS project, and I think they're really onto something. They put together linux-based computers that are useful even without internet, replete with much of wikipedia and other resources built-in. The target is some 3 billion people, most in the third/second-worlds. Something like that with a Christian flavor would be excellent I think.

How about like a chat bot where the user can answer anything about Christianity?

Yeah, that could work! Could be quite nice actually. Though I suppose it may be a bit challenging to create something which isn't denomination specific. That is, unless you want to make a type of digital and interactive catechism (if your denomination has a catechism)

Only using Scripture would probably make your life easier and make the app more universal.

e.g. Search: "How does the Bible define love?" Answer: "love is patient, it is kind etc"

Anyway - don't mind me! Just some ideas :)
