ive always wondered what is behind the tears whenever jesus name is mentioned.i just get a ball in my throat and am overcome with love its an amazing experience.does anyone else experience this or something similar

In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If it was me, I'd be praying for the Lord to put a hedge around me and drawing me closer to Himself. I have witnessed similar reactions among worshippers in a Charismatic Church but that was always after an extended praise and worship set the scene and not at home casual mention of His name. But that is just me, don't forget to consult the wise ones

preachers cry at the speaking of his name also it isn't every time and its usually after some kind of worship,i apologise if I caused confusion

Oh, that is clearer, thanks for saying! Well, I'm not the one who can help.....your original question asked what is behind the emotional tears and surely your pastor could answer in a flash. I was a student studying different religious practices when I last visited a charismatically charged congregation ..............a v e r y long time ago.

I think that some cry because of the suffering Jesus went through to pay the cost for our sins.
I also think some cry because His sacrifice reminds them of their own sins and the mercy and salvation they are receiving even tho they don't deserve it. That can be a humbling experience.
Other than that, I dont know. lol.
