New American Standard Bible, Matthew 23:

14 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense you make long prayers; therefore you will receive greater condemnation [G2917].
The scribes and Pharisees were teachers of the law.

Jesus spoke against the scribes in (Berean Literal Bible) Luke 20:

47 who devour the houses of widows, and pray at great length as a pretext. These will receive more abundant condemnation [G2917]."
New King James Version, James 3:

1 My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment [G2917].

Agreed.

Taking a position of leadership in the church - is also taking a position of increased responsibility , accountability. We need to follow Christ even more closely if we are going to take a role of leadership.

Some people glom on to a position of leadership out of pride - but they are then held to a stricter standard of judgment.

There is a lot more then Just teaching. We are held accountable for every word that comes out of our month. There are men that their word is their bond. If they say they will do something, they will fulfill their word and do it.
