  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Since dedicating my life to the Lord, I've been convicted of many things and not all at once. Seems like I'd finally deal with one thing and God would give me something new. In fact, now that I think of it,it's been like that entire time.

I haven't felt convicted over my tattoo at all. I don't regret it at all. That's also not to say that God won't convict me over it someday. He just hasn't done so yet

I'm careful with some of the laws and rules in the Old Testament (except the 10 Commandments). Although, weren't their laws about women staying hidden for seven days a month or something? I could use a vacation and would be willing to be isolated ;)

The laws of Niddah, but those have more to do with menstration. And from I understand, most women get a vacation then, because no one wants to be around them. :D

Just kidding about the vacation part.

A great example of discussing a potential "hot topic" without it getting hot. Kudos to you all.
To the OP, I have a tat (hidden for all practical intents and purposes) of the Greek cross with the letters ICXC NIKA (Jesus Christ Conquering King) It reminds me to whom I belong.
In XP,
Eusebios.

I'm still not sure why a tattoo would be such a hot topic but I've enjoyed reading the responses here.

I think Christians sometimes like to make mountains out of molehills and often forget to keep their eye on what is truly important.

Do not cut (after the manner of the pagans-footnote) your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the Lord.
I think what God meant was, to not do any of the pagan rituals, and not to be engaged in their culture. The pagans cut themselves and tattooed themselves to mourn those who had died, because they didn't have much hope for them (no heaven for them to go to). It also says in verse 27:

Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or slip off the edges of your beard.
Of course this prohibition is still practiced by Orthodox Jews, but if this law is still in effect, I believe ALOT of people are in trouble, and need to get on their knees and pray for their lost souls. :). Some of them are so old and full of tradition. In my opinion, they were rules for then, for the times that the Isrealites lived in. Their were pagans who tattooed their bodies for the dead, and God didn't want the Isrealites being engaged in the pagan culture and practices. Ask yourself a question : Are you getting tattoos for pagan practices and rituals? No? Well then, I think you'll be fine. (Maybe you could pray about it if you are really doubting???)

My mom's the pastor's wife- she just got one on her ankle- and she's 42!

So I figured...my mom got one...geez...so I got one too. I designed a sweet lookin cross and had it done on my back. No one knows unless I have my shirt off, and if they do, well its a cross!

I figure it's symbolic of...."pick up your cross and follow me" ...type thing!
