  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

GloryBe!

I can't help it. I must reply. I'm a born again Christian who loves Christ. I also love reading parts of the OT. However, I am not of the Leviticus priesthood, and neither do I live prior to the resurrection of Christ. The OT law will not save me. Following it as a subject, would make me a Pharisee.
My two tattoos will not keep my Savior from forgiving me or loving me. They aren't an idol to me, and neither are they evil or satanic or negative in nature. Therefore, getting them was not a sin. I get to leave this body behind when I die. This life has left scars on my bones and skin by the imperfect state this world is in. Even Christ has scars. Why am I not supposed to Willingly leave a mark on myself that is positive, sentimental and spiritual in theme?
Trying to impose your own personal burdens on others is nothing more than trying to exalt yourself above others.
For the record, I don't eat red meat... Haven't for years. It is a personal choice and I never EVER even care that others do. In fact, I encourage my spouse to order steak because I know he likes them. My lifestyle choice is meant to affect me and no one else.

Glory be!

Tats aren't for me, though I've got nothing against them--provided they're discreet. I live in a conservative area, with a rather staid labor market. I cannot understand why any teen or 20-something--who's not an artist, or a pro athlete, or in a rock band--would get ink emblazoned over his hands, or face, or neck, or any conspicuous location. He's sorely limiting his employability, and virtually ruining his chances for an upper level business or professional career.

Though we may not like to talk about it... It is an issue in our day and time. I think anyone who has a youth group needs to talk about it. I am not putting people in hell for getting tattoos... I am saying that it is worthy for discussion. You can get high and wake up the next day with a headache... Those tattoos will stay with you a while longer!

We Christians need to conform ourselves to a higher standard.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. - Romans 12:2

In which I like the way this guy puts it... Whats a matter with being a Christian? The elite of the universe!

What??
I know many professionals with tats...nurses, teachers, socialworkers, police, engineers. The tats are quite nice, they aren't somehting that has people gawking...
My opinion is that one should know what they want prior to getting one done and to put it in an appropriate place that they wont regret many yrs down the road :)

To Amber, I gotta say that I love the ideas you have for your tattoos. A very nice way to go about it.

As for me, I don't really have too much of a problem with them, but I can't imagine any would look good on me. Oh well, I guess it's not for all of us. :p
