  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Maybe the point was that they would look similar enough to convey the meaning?
I think that her being a female would dissuade anyone of that idea. Also, I can't imagine anyone taking a dog paw print for a bear paw print, unless they really had never seen either print before. *wink* But, then, I've been really interested in tracking (and what tracks belong to what animal) since I was very young, so maybe other people wouldn't see the differences as easily as I do?

I think there are enough people out there who've had their pets' pawprints tattooed on them that any sensible 'bear' would be cautious.

Nothing intrinsically wrong with tattoos, barring the huge number of stupid/badly done/unimaginative/derivitive/corporate trash art tats I see people wearing.

I used to hate the fad in the eighties of having hairdressers carve things like the Nike swoosh into little kids hair - great, your kid's a billboard. I equally dislike tats that glorify Disney, or Harley-Davidson (I know you love your bike, but they are a money grubbing corporation just like all the rest), or any other business, unless maybe it's your own company.

I'm not aware of any "alternative meaning" for anything but bear paw prints (which represent the gay bear community). Could you explain what dog prints mean (Google didn't seem to know either)?
Paw print tattoos, especially dog and horse hoof prints, can mean in some circles that you have a...non-traditional selection of intimate partner as in....not human. The placement indicates preferred position.

I am a Christian with a lot of tattoos. You can see the tattoos on my arms right here. (It was taken at a hardcore concert in South Korea)

I got a lot of tattoos because I view my body as an extension of myself, and a temple, and I feel that having tattoos is really a good decoration for myself and is representative of a larger commitment. It is not in vain, it is really good art.

Tattoos do not bring shame; they bring honor and beauty. Tattoos are not devilish as any picture we ever do is not devilish. Of course you can get evil tattoos, but you can also get those promoting virtue and simply those depicting the beauty of God's creatures.

I support tattoos fully.

I would think that such a meaning would be rather rare, as opposed to sane individuals who just happen to love their pets, that almost no one would imagine that she was doing something illegal with her beloved dog.

One should be careful with this. The in some circles is very important. In other circles it can mean something entirely different. My niece has 4 stars tattooed on her lower back. They could just as easily be horseshoes. In fact one could say horeshoes would be more fitting. 3 of the stars are filled in, the last is only an outline. She does 3 day eventing and the very top level is 4 star events. Yup that means she has made it to the second highest level and reasonably expects to eventually make the top level.

Its still something to CONSIDER when getting a tattoo is ALL the possible meanings. Plus theres a good chance that someone that you meet for the first time knows that meaning, sees the tattoo, and makes a mistaken conclusion.

Im not saying DONT get it, Im just saying that that symbol has alternative meanings so its a good idea to factor that in to you selecting the tattoo

Who on earth is going to know what this means, and more to the point, how do you know what this means? ;)

Is anyone else surprised by what JM looks like? I was expecting someone who looked much more "straight", but he's clearly a proper little raver.

This just goes to show, how ignorant
the "new school" tattoo artist is.
A true artist should always know the origins of said art.
Remember tattoo originated from warrior culture, and has evolved into inner circles, as for a curtain military group, motorcycle club, gangs, and other said social groups.

Though in todays world some of these dedicated art is taken by other people without knowing it's true meaning.
Just because it looks cute, research, tear drops look cute, but do one really know what it means

Looks like tear drop tattoos have multiple different meanings.

Really, if a given tattoo has another meaning, I don't think it matters. So long as it means something special to the person who gets it. Also, if people start getting certain tattoos for other reasons, the meanings of those tattoos will evolve.
