  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This argument has been beat to death but I'll throw in my .02. I can't find anyone to prove that tattoos are bad in the bible, but on the other hand, no one can prove to me that they are acceptable either.

I personally do not like them and I guess it boils down to personal preference.

One thing to remember for the lads, is that they can be bad for job interviews so be carefull what you have where, and also for once you have kids, i know lads that when they take their kids into school, the other mothers sort of hold onto their own kids extra hard, and it can be a bit of an issue.

Tatoo's have been a developing art for 1000's of years. I see them as art & think they can be very beautiful, some people see them as a social stigma (whether they are offensive or not) and will treat you differently:sigh:, which is their loss imo. I read other forums once with a similar question, some people posted that they would never marry/date someone who had tattoo/s, i hope that these people with that view never fall in love with someone who unknown to them have tattoos:doh:.

I don't have any yet, though planning on getting my first in about a month, when i finaly finish the design:scratch:

this again...haha no it's okay. I think it really is up to who the person is. I think there is scrupture that goes both ways. So if you think it is right, pray about it, and then just do it. Think about it long and hard though...there not eady to remove!

Im thinking the lower back tattoos.

"Tramp Stamp" as my frat calls them.

I think that that is really insulting, not everyone who has a tattoo on their lower back is a tramp, I certanly am not and I have a tattoo there.

Mine is a heart with wings and a rose entwined around it, I designed mine to have a special meaning to me, as well as look nice. If you don't want one or like them then it's your call, it hurts a lot less than you think but if you're a woman I'd advise against having one on your belly or too low down on your chest, if you intend on having kids, they will stretch.

If you do decide to get one make sure that it is one that you will be willing to live with for the rest of your life :). I don't think I could get one, too much pain, but a lot of my friends have. Also it's not good for the profession I am going into. It is usually frowned upon in Christian schools if you have a tattoo.. you have to find a way to cover them up.

You have the right to have a tattoo in that spot, and I have the right to call it a tramp stamp. Thats how things work.

Ah, but what about everyones right not to be labelled by others, just because of how they look? Sure you have the right to not like something but why insult people?

Sorry hun, I don't want to get involved in a debate about people's rights I just think that 'tramp' is a very ugly word and shouldn't be used based on just one thing that you dont like, you don't know the person with the tattoo, and 'tramp' has many bad connotations.

I've never been into tattoos. While I don't think there's anything unbiblical about them, most aren't aesthetically appealing to me. If a woman has a small one in an inconspicuous spot, like a tiny star or heart on a thigh or shoulder blade, I might like it, but I don't care for most others. Personally, my tastes change too much for me to get one. I'd probably regret it after a few years.

Young people seem to be very impressed with tatoos, and if you ask them why they want one, they will usually tell you a story about how it means this or that to them. Well, I wonder if it's just a different way to be rebellious and trying to be "cool" at the same time.

I personally love my body just the way it is, and I'm not going to have some person permanently "draw" something on me!!

I have a feeling that there will be many, many young people who will seriously regret the day they ever got "that tatoo".
