  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

is That the best you've got:yawn1:?..The reason of you wanting to get a tatoo does not matter:dontcare:even if you're getting a tatooed cross to show your loyalty to christ. God said dont do it...Can't put it simpler than that:boredsleep:...and im not some "know-it-all" smarty pants>:smarty:<...I just read the word of God:study:, get good, real teaching from a deticated pastor:boh:...i am still learning. But some stuff is just plain as day:whistle:

Have you ever realized that the verse in Leviticus what you probably are thinking of is in the context of condemning pagan worship rituals? And have you ever realized that in the same chapter it is forbidden to wear garments from a mixed fabric? Do you know that it also condemns trimming your beards and hair?

Just pointing out though. I also understand that some people are not comfortable having tattoos and I understand that some consider it bad since the body is the temple of God and all. We as christians are also called to live and let live (Romans 14), and to examine ourself in this issue - do we glorify God in taking the tattoo or are we confident with it and hence doing it out of faith?

It appears my post has gone completely over your head. You stated that the commandments in Leviticus had a cultural context. I stated that by this logic, tattoos would also fall under this.

Leviticus 19:28
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

While Leviticus 19:28 does in fact say this you have to understand the context of the verse and why it was forbidden at the time. Your other option would be to follow this verse to the letter but also follow the verse that immediately proceeds this one. Leviticus 19:27 says "Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.". The context around these verses and specifically 19:28 had to do with the pagan practices of the time period. At that time, if you were to get a tattoo it would be to show which of the pagan gods that you worshiped and therefore a tattoo in that time would imply the worship of a pagan god. Obviously, tattoo's today do not have the same meaning and context that they did at the time of these verses. While I personally do not have any tattoos and do not plan on getting one in the foreseeable future, I do not believe that it is a sin to get/have one. Thankfully, even with the debate about tattoos, right or wrong, Jesus died on the cross and I am forgiven even if getting a tattoo turns out to be a sin. I don't think that this is an issue that we should let get in the way of accepting those who may enter the church in the future. Having a tattoo whether right or wrong will not keep you out of heaven only denying Christ will do that. This is not an issue that should divide Chritians....

Oh my goodness...Really christians?? And this is the reason why people dont take christianity seriously. I expect a deist to go against Gods Word, and to tell you the truth I'm not the least bit suprised that a bunch of professing Christians go and follow the world as well, because we have a bunch of hyprocrite Christians in this nation. I guess you guys havent read
1 corinthians 6:19-20
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's
Now im not gonna go into detail about these scriptures because you christians should know this...this is milk! But I know the biggest problem, You dont have the true Word of God.

I've been reading through your posts in this thread and they are making me giggle, but they also make me somewhat sad.

The reason people don't take Christianity seriously?? People who act like you presently are. Life is not black and white and everybodies personal relationship with God is unique. People have different convictions. Does not make them wrong.

I have considered it but will most likely never do it...I think it would be cool to get a cross or a verse tattoo, but then again I don't want one because it will look cool now...but when I am old and it looks bad I will regret it...

Old Covenant.

Lol, that doesn't mean that the Law doesn't still apply. Sorry to break it to you man, but the Savior did not do away with the Law.

If I ever got a tattoo, it'd be a small one, like a verse or a meaningful song lyric on my shoulder blade. But, I'm never gonna get one... so yeah.
