  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Does anyone know how to tat? Or have any websites where I can get patterns, ideas, instructions, etc?

I want to embroider a hankie for a friend's wedding and want to tat an edging. I can crochet one, but want a new challenge.

I picked up tatting rather quickly - but I learned as a child so maybe that was the difference. When I was pregnant with my first child I tried to learn to crochet. I was determined to make a baby blanket. Well, she was 14 before I managed to master it enough to make her a lap blanket. (Very small lap!!) I have practiced it from time to time and have finished an afghan for my son and for my daughter. But tatting is my favorite.

It really is not hard to learn - you just have to decide you want to learn and do it. I think the hardest part was getting the "flip". Once you manage that it's easy!
