I take the bus at least once a day. It takes an hour for me to walk to campus, so I usually take the bus in the morning so I can sleep in, and then walk home. Our bus system went on strike from November to February, and it was absolutely terrible trying to get around. I don't drive, we don't have trains or subways, so the bus and (expensive) taxis are all I have besides walking. I have an unlimited semester pass, so the bus is pretty cheap.

Advice for the bus: always carry extra change or an extra bus card in case you lose yours. Always have the bus schedule in your pocket, or be able to access the schedule on your phone.

I sometimes take transit to save some money, or if I'm going downtown where parking is extremely overpriced. I've learned one handy trick though: even if you forget your MP3 player at home, it always comes in handy to have a pair of earbuds you can put in and pretend to be listening to music through. It provides a good way out of some of the more... interesting conversations.

I drive.

I wouldn't use the bus system here unless I have to. A friend of mine totaled his car and is taking the bus....It takes that bus one and a half hours to get to school. He had to get up at 5am to catch a 6am bus to be to class before 8am. There's a ton of stops, and it goes way past school then turns around and goes back.

Talk about major inconvenience.

I would go so far as to say try to never forget that MP3 player!

It takes me about an hour to get to work on 2 buses, transferring right on the edge of a bad area of the city. There are days when I get EXTREMELY irritated with people on either or both buses, and it's absolutely LOVELY to have something to drown them out. :)

When I first started wanting to bring my music player I stuck my bus pass in its case so I'd HAVE to remember it. Now it's just habit. :)

Another tip is to carry hand sanitizer. ;)

I go to work by bus and train, so I use the bus frequently. I think it is very comfortable, because I can sleep or read in it. Beside that puplic transportation is fully developed where I live and its so much cheaper than taking the driving test and having a car.
