Thanks, bro.

But they need to see our faith.

Even in the face of ridicule.
I observe that most here have heard...and rejected..the Gospel.
Which means thier motive is rather evident.

Science may revise its theories in the light of new data becoming available, but there is no chance of current theories being so comprehensively and radically wrong that six day creation will ever again seem credible. That is just the way it is.
Really..?
Are you awaiting the Lord's return ?
Or is that not credible either

It's interesting that a literal six day creation is mentioned in the Ten Commandments, which the educated want removed from public view.

Second of all, I don't care to answer any "how do you know" questions, as they aren't conducive to learning.

Actually those are the MOST IMPORTANT questions in terms of learning.

I am not prone to assume you are God, so you will have to support your claims.

As Paul says he was "persuaded" in believing in eternal security (once saved always saved), I am "persuaded" in creatio ex nihilo.

So why do you offer to answer questions about it? If no proof or evidence is required for you what are you offering, exactly?

Don't bear false witness. No one says it shouldn't be on view. What they are saying is IT SHOULDN'T BE POSTED AND MEMORIALS MADE AT TAX PAYER EXPENSE BECAUSE NOT ALL AMERICANS ARE CHRISTIANS OR JEWS.

Honestly @AV1611VET ..I can understand why you would debate against theistic evolution
And science with its total inconsistency and ever changing goal post ruled by its ever changing motives influenced by the ever changing political climate.

Alithis, please understand when you say things like this you are showing amazing levels of ignorance of science. Yes, science changes, but you characterize that change as if it is undertaken by political expedience and mendacity.

That isn't really how it works. You should know that before you mischaracterize and attack people you don't know

But why debate with an atheist..
They are not here to be convinced..they serve only the spirit of THIS world.

And yet, here you are, bearing false witness against a group of people you don't even know and you think that is serving some other spirit?

Work on the beams in your own eye before taking after the mote in your neighbor's.

And bearing false witness seems to come so easily to that faith, I see! Whether it's you making false claims about the 10 Commandments in public spaces or Alithis making statements about how badly science is run.

Huh.

I can't help American hang ups.

He's misrepresenting the debate here in the US. Not all US taxpayers are Christian and as such they don't want taxpayer dollars being spent on Ten Commandment Memorials or courthouse pictures. Many Americans find it a violation of the separation of church and state.

That being said, to my knowledge, it does NOT preclude the availability of the 10 commandments if one wants to see it. Just not as part of the government.

As an American you can still see the 10 Commandments anytime you want. Just not at tax payer expense or in a position in which the US Government is seen as promulgating it.

Many Christian fundamentalists think that ANY limitation on their hegemony of our society is the same thing as "discrimination against them." This plays into their "Martyr Complex".

Note how easy it is for them to misrepresent the facts in order to move this narrative forward. Almost as if the 9th Commandment was not part of the 10.

Just an FYI, the ridicule is of the smug arrogance, not the faith. I've always admired your faith, when it's strong.

Why? Who are yo trying to impress?

Jesus, no doubt. It is the requirement of the faithful to witness for their faith.

No doubt many, if not most, wish to share the joy they feel with those who don't share in their joy. And that's a good thing. But what I see on this end of CF is a kind of "negative witness". People whose pride is so incredibly strong it can't be covered with a bushel. It must shine forth. Whatever it is YOU do or value, if it is not valued or done or understood by them and they fear it will threaten their immortal soul, then THAT MUST TAKE A HIKE!

That makes sense, I suppose. Purity of spirit is an important aspect to all religions. One must not even entertain the thoughts that will contaminate the spirit. I guess I don't blame them. But they seem to undertake this task with such grim determination that they end up rolling over others without regard.

And look at how they howl when their beliefs and ideals are denigrated even slightly.

This part of CF makes me think that there are a LOT of Bibles out there missing Luke 6:31.

Explanations.

If you can tell me with a straight face that you haven't learned anything from creationism since coming here, I'm Genghis Khan.

How many people do you see say they enjoy discussion with us because they like to learn?

I've seen several.

Bearing false witness?

Now where did you hear that phrase at?

Certainly not the courthouse lawn!?

Just pointing out apparent hypocrisy when I see it.

But, really, do you think the Bible has a copyright on that phrase? It is a very elegant phrase.

I do like using Bible-related things when people of faith wish to show us how fully a part of this world they really are.

Explanations.

If you can tell me with a straight face that you haven't learned anything from creationism since coming here, I'm Genghis Khan.

I thought at one point I had. It was what I assumed your original "Embedded Age" word game was. I actually thought it quite clever, but then you were quite strong in telling me I was wrong in how I was reading it.

Other than that, trust me, I've not seen much on these pages that comes as a revelation in terms of "Creationism". I've been discussing creation and evolution since the early 1980's. I've seen almost all of it. I will admit, however, I am often surprised at the level of mendacity some Christians sink to in their battles against evolution or deep time. I have learned that some Christians are really little more than ravening wolves in sheeps clothing at times. And often it is little more than a tattered sheepskin rug they throw on their backs.

How many people do you see say they enjoy discussion with us because they like to learn?

I've seen several.

I am pretty sure of my knowledge and while it (and I) could always be in error, I've seldom seen a Creationist who provides anything of real value to "learn". (Apart from the mendacity I see in some as noted earlier.) I would welcome a fresh bit of information from the Creationist community but usually that isn't forthcoming. Creationists would have to "up" their game a bit. Sorry.

(Also: it doesn't help when people trying to teach me something refuse to admit that they might be in error. I don't trust people like that.)
