What dispensation will it finally be answered?

NKJV) Ephesians 1:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ,
both which are in heaven and which are on earth -- in Him.

Aside from glorifying people who believe in it, what purpose does the notion of "embedded age" serve?
Cute ... tacking on ridicule to a seemingly legitimate question alerts me to the 'notion' that one isn't really being sincere with their question mark.

Cute ... tacking on ridicule to a seemingly legitimate question alerts me to the 'notion' that one isn't really being sincere with their question mark.

The ridicule only serves in anticipation of your refusal to answer the question -- as always, you don't disappoint.

let me answer it instead:

Once upon a time, the origin of the Earth was more in the field of mythology than of science -- for the simple reason (among others) that nobody could hammer out a means to study origins with any level of reliability.

Now, as it so happens, virtually every religion that ever existed includes in its repertoire what we call a creation myth -- a specific kind of divine myth which, as the name indicates, explains the creation of the world through divine means. The Hebrew religion is no different.

Now, fast-forward a couple of millenia and we come to James Ussher, a cleric of the Christian religion -- which has its origins in, and later split from, the Hebrew religion -- literalizes and historicizes every single event in the Hebrew Scriptures (an unfortunate habit he picks up from his religious institutions), and comes up with a date for this creation event. The date is unchallenged because as of this time, there is still no credible means to challenge it (also, being unchallenged, the exact time of this creation event is largely irrelevant).

Fast forward a little later and sciences such as geology, cosmology, astronomy, etc., begin looking into the origins of the world and find that, if their indications are correct, they cannot possibly match Ussher's calculations. Now, of course, the date of the creation event becomes very much relevant, because now the possibility exists that what Christians have come to assume about Hebrew Scriptures, is in error.

This, of course, cannot be allowed.

At first, every effort is made to discredit and quell the upstart sciences for daring to contradict the almighty opinions of Ussher et al.; efforts which continue to this day -- unfortunately, the evidence on the scientific side of things continues to mount, while the Ussher side remains stagnant as always.

Indeed, it gets to the point where the Young Earth Creationists (YECs for short) find themselves unable to produce any positive evidence on their own, and are forced to reinterpret scientific data (or just plain 'data"; it's only coming from the science side at this point), or point to missing facts from the scientific side of things and attempt to pass them off as positive evidence for their own point of view. The degree of their failure would be laughable, if only they could bring themselves to see it.

Now, there were some who did see it, and realized that they can't deny the reality of the situation any longer. But hey -- why deny reality when you can simply redefine it! And thus was born Embedded Age theology -- all the benefits of accepting the scientific data they could no longer handwave away, with none of the drawbacks of having to admit that they may have been misreading someone else's Scriptures... EVERYONE gets to be right, but more importantly, THEY were never wrong.

Admittedly, this is something of an oversimplification -- but I think the basics of it come through loud and clear.

This is the only answer you'll accept, isn't it?

Thank you for making my point.

I offered you a chance to make a point -- you chose instead to make an excuse.

Frankly, I'm not interested in your offers.

If you have a legitimate question, and want to ask it in a mature way, I'll do everything I can to answer it.

Otherwise, I don't feel obligated to accept any offers.

The Hebrew story of Job could have started off like that.

Once upon a time long ago......

NKJV) Job 1:1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name [was] Job;
and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.

Kindgdom Bible Studies Job

There was a man in the land of Uz. Uz means fertile — it also means counsel, consultation and plan. So there was a man in the land of fertility, and by counsel he was involved in a divine plan.
And in the long ago there was another man in a fertile and fruitful place, according to the counsel of Elohim, and in the plan of God. We read about this man in the book of Genesis. The book of Genesis is probably the most important book ever written. The word "genesis" of course means origin or beginning, and the book of Genesis gives the only true and reliable account of the source and true nature of all things and the meaning of life.
The first several chapters of the book of Genesis lay a ground-plan for the entire revelation of God's purposes in relation to man. As a piece of literature the story is sublime; magnificent in range, in profundity of design, and the unparalleled heights of spiritual revelation it attains.

Steve ... no offense, buddy ... but would it be too hard to ask you guys to take your fairy tales to your own thread, and not use mine to push your own interpretations?

Or are you afraid you'll have to defend your position, so you just do drive-bys in someone elses?

As I said before:
Then I'll say it again.

Replace "In the beginning" with "Once upon a time," and it doesn't change a thing.

Here, let's try it: Once upon a time, god created the heavens and the earth.

All mythical stories allude to times and epochs of yore.

So you don't deal with with a hostile audience. That's a pity -- it only makes you cough up more excuses, which in turn...

It's actually quite simple.

According to AV1611VET, God created the Earth roughly 6,000 years ago.

BUT, when he did so, it was already 4.5 billion years old.

That about sum it up, AV?
