I don't want to take of this either. I belong to a ROCOR parish, so I am know about the strictness concerning the Divine Eucharist in our tradition. I know that other jurisdictions aren't that strict than the Russians concerning Communion, but what this women did is out of line. She should have respected our tradition, strict that it may be, and not cause a scandal in front of the Church. The Priest has the right to withhold communion to whoever he wishes. I agree with katherine2001.
In IC.XC.,
One of the reasons I never partook when I attended a ROCOR parish (temporarily). The priest would not let me keep my Spiritual Father and I could not confess each week so I just didn't partake. The priest was very old and couldn't have taken on any more than he was (his old parishoners had a hard time getting time for confession because he was just tired) so it was a bit ridiculous... but I respect the jurisdiction and just made this choice.
If I visit a parish and haven't talked to the priest I don't approach. It almost annoys me that at the OCA parish I have been to lately, if people know you're Orthodox, they almost push you to get in line for Communion and then look at you funny when you don't partake (for whatever reason).
