  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

In terms of the job example, I think you're underestimating my goals in life. Not having s god doesn't mean your goals are superficial. My goals involve helping people, changing the world and continuing to experience Love.Things like jobs are incidental...if I'm working for a good cause and making enough to provide a comfortable life for the husband and kids I hope to eventually have, then promotions and stuff are meaningless.

I'm not trying to insult anyone. I'm simply saying that whatever you choose to believe and follow will ultimately require you to make some changes to your lifestyle, therefore giving up control because of SOMETHING or someone.

If the teachings of Buddha click for you and help you live your life, then I'm happy that you have found something to put your energy behind and follow.

The question was why do people not want to surrender. My answer is that people are selfish, controlling beings and surrendering any amount of control to anything is hard for most people.

The discussion had nothing to do with proving or disproving the existence of God .

If you had the ability to change the world! What would you, so call fix? A thought, Jesus came to the world with that ability and choose not to change your world in famine,poverty,suppression. Just as the the Pharisees where complaining about Jesus sitting with those in sin. He didn't come just for change or to change the ability to sin.Your freedom to surrender comes with effect of our sin, So what could you change? In a world of freedom to choose.
