  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I feel very guilty and I pray everyday for God's forgiveness, but I feel my faith slipping. After I started taking biology and physiology classes at school, I started to deviate from God. I've stopped going to Church but I don't want to lose what I hold dear in life. My faith has helped me through so much, but I find it to be incompatible with what I learn in school and to make matters worse, my relationship with my family is deteriorating because they think I am doing this to hurt them. They won't even pray with (or for) me. Please, just simple praying does not help, is there something else I can do to restore my faith? I want to re-discover God and bring Him into my life like I did when I was a child.

Prayer is the key. However, if you aren't living a life in the body of Christ, then you are missing out on a lot. You need the sacraments.

Why would your faith be incompatible with biology and physiology? Is God something physical? Could you explain better what you mean? I can't see why your faith would conflict with these things, since it is two very different things. God is something spiritual, and what you learn about in school is about something physical. It is things that don't got anything to do with each other.

Worrying is not of God. Sometimes God brings you through with a group and sometimes by yourself. Keep your mind on God. Its times you won't feel God or feel the closeness believe it or not that a higher level. If you don't feel God what do you do? Do you just walk around saying well I don't feel close to God so I won't think about God. Or Do you tell God even if you don't feel him you will still seek him. Some levels you have to do on your own. Stay Blessed!

Nothing you learn in biology or physiology need conflict with your faith. In fact, both go a long way to show what the Psalmist meant who wrote that he was "fearfully and wonderfully made." Science tells us how it was done, Christianity tells us why.

If evolution is part of your problem, remember: science deals with nature, not supernature. It cannot, by its own methods, prove or disprove God's existence.

THE DEVIL IS A LIAR!

His best trick is to make you doubt--anyway possible.

Start renewing your faith by realizing either Jesus is who He said He is or either He was a liar--plain and simple. Remember Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.

You do not have to park your brain at the door to be a christian. I could go into lots of detail as to how science ends up "proving" the Bible and thus in many ways walking hand and hand. Its all a matter of perspective. If you believe in the Big Bang, I mean what went bang and what caused the bang, there was a "something" before the bang, what made the single cell amoeba or how did it form? Science has the questions and a piece or two of the answers, but Jesus has it all. Start reading the "hall of faith" passages in the Bible an your faith will be renewed.

You will get there if you just keep going;)

May I suggest prayer and returning to church? Talking to fellow Christians and renewing your fellowship with them will help - if for some reason your current church is not working for you, you could try visiting another.

There should be no reason that learning more about the wonder and intricacy of our world should turn you away from Our Lord - talk with other Christians about this, talk with your minister, read the scriptures, pray, perhaps talk with you family.

Things will get better for you, I'm sure. I will pray for you too. May God bless you and keep you.

First, your family must not have a very good relationship with God if they are treating you this way.

Second, I want you to hear every single word that I say (because I don't have time right now to write a lot). But I mean each single word:

You need to seek for God with ALL your heart, soul and mind. You need to make Him a priority in your life. The Spirit/God who lives in us is jealous if we find our contentment in the things of this world. (James 4:5) God wants us to be committed only to Him. God's words (in the Bible) as Jesus said: they are life. If you want to find this life, you need to read the words that God spoke. God speaks life. The Bible is your answer. Immerse yourself in it. Seek the truth. It's there. Do not rely on others to lead you to the truth. You never know which person even knows the truth. The words that come directly from God - is your only hope. The words bring life. Make studying the Bible your priority. And don't forget, the Bible is not just a set of religious rules and regulations. Because God is not just some religion. He is a person/a Being with feelings, very similar to ours. He gets angry and happy and sad and jealous. So honor him with your behavior. Seek to know HIM (not religion) better. HE will talk to you through his written words. He can make the WORDS become alive to you personally and minister to you. But you must seek Him with all your heart.
In IS 48:17 God said:
ISA 48:17 This is what the LORD says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: "I am the LORD your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.
18 If only you had paid attention to my commands, your peace would have been like a river, your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

Hang on to God's words of life, as if your life depended on it. Because it does. The way is narrow, Jesus said, and not many find it. Your life DOES depend on it.

The Bible is the answer, and the way to eternal life and the map to eternal life.

May God help you.
