Hello,
There is a ministry at my church where it's a support group meeting thing that meets once a week... oNe of the support groups is for people with depression. Well, my counselor wants me to go, and I ended up getting that night off of work every week, so I am all set up to go. Should I be scared of going? Does anyone else have good/bad experiences in them? Remember, I'm not a person that publically states that I'm depressed... I'm afraid to tell anyone, even a counselor! I am going to church in a little bit to check the ministry out and see if I even can get in it. I'm sure if it is closed, I still can get it becaue my counselor is the head of the ministry! Anyways, i'm rambling now. Are support groups helpful or not?

fellowship with others struggling is a comfort. different stages of walk and growth all pulling together to created a blanket of comfort.
You will find you are not alone there, that many in various ways have traveled the road you've been on, and they'll be able to share with you their experience, strength, and hope in God that has made a difference in them. And someday you'll probably be helping others the same way. Here's how I summarize recovery groups: in-depth discipleship.
